YUMA, Ariz. - Arizona authorities say they have arrested a man who robbed a Yuma bank then went and spent some of the stolen money on beer and pizza at a nearby restaurant.

Yuma police say 56-year-old Henry Elmer has been booked into county jail on a variety of robbery and theft-related charges.

Officers responded to a robbery call at the main branch of the Wells Fargo Bank across from the Yuma Police Station around 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

A man reportedly entered the bank, produced a box-cutter knife and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police say Elmer then went to a nearby restaurant, ordered beer and a couple of slices of pizza and paid with some of the bank's money.

Police say they located Elmer before the meal was served. It's unclear whether he has a lawyer, yet.

Why didn't he just steal the pizza and beer and then go out into the parking lot for a nice meal?
It would have saved him a step or two.

He knew he was going to get caught, he just didn't know how fast. He thought he'd have time for his pizza and beer before they took him in. Next time he needs to find a pizza place a little further away from the bank.

With a lot of people broke, many are viewing jail as a prime choice for food clothing shelter and medical.

apparently the guy was hungry. They might spend a bit less on enforcement and make sure their citizens can eat and the problem would be less apparent.

What, this ain't Europe. This the USA! Where we focus on fake wars and drugs. We can't afford to pay for the citizens. Unless we incarcerate them. Then it's ok.
