Jobs' death forces delay of Galaxy Nexus launch

This is a rare moment in the tech annals. Samsung has delayed a much-anticipated product launch that had been planned next week in conjunction with Google. The reason? The death of Steve Jobs.

"Samsung and Google decide to postpone the new product announcement at CTIA Fall," the company said today in a statement. "We agree that it is just not the right time to announce a new product. New date and venue will be shortly announced."

In a follow-up statement to CNET, a Samsung spokesperson said that the death of Apple's co-founder Jobs prompted the decision. (You can read more about this on CNET.)

The CTIA show, a biannual gathering of the telecommunications industry, was to have been the venue where Google trotted out the latest version of its Android operating system for mobile devices, referred to by its code name, "Ice Cream Sandwich."

But this is only a delay, not a cancellation. And already, leaks of the upcoming system are hitting the Internet, prompting some wags to label the Samsung Galaxy Nexus the worst-kept tech secret ever.
