Top al Qaeda bombmaker dead in drone strike

Terrorism in the U.S.

WASHINGTON - U.S. intelligence indicates that the top al Qaeda bomb-maker in Yemen also died in the drone strike that killed radical cleric Anwar al-Awlaki, two U.S. officials said Friday.

Ibrahim al-Asiri is the bomb-maker linked to the bomb hidden in the underwear of a Nigerian man accused of trying to blow up a plane over Detroit on Christmas Day 2009.

The FBI pulled al-Asiri's fingerprint off that bomb. Authorities also believe he built the bombs that al Qaeda slipped into printers and shipped to the U.S. last year in a nearly catastrophic attack.

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because al-Asiri's death has not officially been confirmed.

Al-Asiri's death would make the attack perhaps the most successful single drone strike ever. Along with al-Awlaki, the attack also killed Samir Khan, the editor of the al Qaeda propaganda magazine Inspire.

Both Khan and al-Awlaki are U.S. citizens. Al-Awlaki was the target of the attack.

Christopher Boucek, a scholar who studies Yemen and al Qaeda, said al-Asiri was so important to the organization that his death would "overshadow the news of al-Awlaki and Samir Khan."

Amendment V

No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offence to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.

He, Anwar Awlaki declared war on USA constantly, google him.

Anwar Awlaki said kill Americans, google him.

THE V AMENDMENT ABOVE STATES IF YOU ARE AT WAR OR PUBLIC DANGER , THE GLOVES COME OFF!

"except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger"

Oh, by the way when all you open minded people google him, be sure to read carefully on how he gave some of the 9/11 hijackers a hideout before he fled the USA.

Also 7 kids were murdered on the hijacked planes, one was 2 years old, a 17 year old died in the towers.

I cannot believe the people that want to protect these baby killers!

IF you declare war, carry out threats by bombings etc, then he was at war, until he was was taken out of that war.

Great post. Once one declares a war on the US, he/she is effectively renouncing the US citizenship along with all constitutional rights granted to US citizens. Those who cry foul over these killings (ACLU, Ron Paul, etc) obviously have never risked their lives hunting down these terrorists who are constatntly devising plans to attack Americans. Somebody should remind these folks that we are at war! Our men and women are putting their lives on line everyday fighting these terrorists. When bullets are flying by your head, and your men are getting killed by enemy fire, you don't try to capture them so they can stand trial back in the US.

I suggest anyone who is against killing guys THAT DECLARED WAR ON USA and killed people take a momment and think.

Now that you have thought about it, now you can call the parents or survivors of these babies and kids killed on 9/11 and ask their opinion.

It's nice to know that in these economic times, we are getting the most out of our hellfire missiles.

That's a two 'fer.

What I want to know is why in the under three years Obama's been in office that we can be so effective when 8 years under GWB we couldn't.

Oh, that's right. The emphasis was on starting wars. Not ending them.

I hand it to Obama. He's good at killing people. Somehow I just can't see these al Queda people getting killed left and right if Bush were still there.

Why cry over spilled milk people?... Don't you get tired of blaming ex-president Bush and our President Obama?...Why can you simple show your support for the people that are fighting against terrorists in order to protect us all?...I think a lot of people are filled with hatred or are just simple racist. Be honest with yourself, and be grateful.

News? ... Obama kills-off al Qada propagandists in a desperate attempt to stay relevant in the news headlines. He hopes to divert attention from horrible economic news.

Hey Dustin94sc - Hasn't anyone told you that we are at war with terrorists? Both Bush and Obama want to kill the bad guys. This is not a war between Democrats and Republicans but against a common enemy that both parties want defeated.

I wonder just how smart these three men were. Each was a target and yet all three get in one truck and head off across the desert together. If they had any sense, they would never have traveled together. Their stupidity is our gain.

Here's hoping the 70 brown eyed virgins are fat and ugly.

Since pigs are fat, ugly and brown-eyed they would make an appropriate 'virgins' for these martyrs of the Faith.
