"Black Widow" of eating: 183 wings in 12 mins.

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The "Black Widow" of eating contests scarfed down 183 chicken wings in 12 minutes to break her own world record set last year in Buffalo, N.Y.

Sonya Thomas took home first place Sunday at the tenth annual National Buffalo Wings Festival. She beat fellow competitive eating marvel Joey "Jaws" Chestnut, who came in second with 174 wings.

The two won titles at the July Fourth hot dog eating contest on Coney Island.

The 100-pound Thomas, of Alexandria, Va., is the reigning wing-eating champion. She downed 181 wings to win the 2010 contest. Chestnut of San Jose, Calif., settled for second with 169 wings.

The winner got $1,500. The runner-up won $750, and the third place finisher got $300.

Thomas is called the "Black Widow" becomes she often beats male competitors in eating contests.

Disgusting. With half the world starving to death, we fat arsed Americans stuff our already overweight faces in a perverted competition. These people and ALL who participate in these things should be ashamed of themselves. Im not your typical bleeding heart, but this is an excellent example of why the rest of the world hates us. What is this mental perversion that causes us to turn even the privilege of eating into a competition? America, you need to get off your butts and find something better to do with your spare time.

Did these chicken wings have bones or did they take the bones out before cooking them? Pranks like this are as old as the hills. The first might have been "Nathan's" hot dog eating contest at Coney Island (just a guess). Things like this can be fun, especially during Labor Day weekend, when everyone knows they he/she has to get to work again on Tuesday. But eating that much of anything that fast can't be good for your body! Buffalo is touting its namesake, "Buffalo Wings." What better way to do it than to hold this contest? Buffalo, NY needs the attention.
