Arrest for attempted police murder in UK riots
LONDON — The Metropolitan Police say a man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder of two police officers during riots in London on Aug. 8.
The two officers were hit by a green Citroen driven directly at them at high speed early in the morning as police were dealing with reports of looting at the Aristocrats clothing store.
Police said Sunday that both officers were hospitalized and are now recovering at their homes. One suffered knee and leg injuries and one had shoulder injuries.
Police said a 28-year-old man is in custody after being arrested Sunday. Another suspect was arrested earlier and set free on bail as investigations continue.
