Nancy Reagan fine after stumbling at event

SIMI VALLEY, Calif. - Former first lady Nancy Reagan is said to be doing fine after stumbling as she was escorted into an event at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum in Simi Valley.

KNBC-TV video shows the 90-year-old Reagan walking into the room on the arm of Florida Senator Marco Rubio Tuesday night when she apparently lost her balance. The crowd can be heard gasping as Rubio catches her before she falls to the floor. Several people in the crowd then swarm her, and Rubio and the others help her get to her seat.

Rubio was invited by Reagan to speak at the library.

Library spokeswoman Melissa Giller told KNBC that the former first lady wasn't hurt. Giller says Reagan apparently tripped on a post used for crowd control.

These past three years have showed us that racisim is still the "go-to" card when it comes to disagreements, especially when we have political leadership that throw this excuse out whenever somebody disagrees with their agenda. What is happening in this country is that "we the people" are fed up with entitlements. I am black and I don't doubt true racism still exists, but don't think for a minute that it is a "white's only" prerogative. I know so many young black people like me that have been fed the lies of the establishment that "the man" wants to keep us down. And some of us buy it, hook, line and sinker. They think the democrats - and the President - in particular are going to make things "right" for them. My parent's called this the "D.C. Plantation." If you know your history, and I suspect from your comments that you don't, you'd realize that since the 1960's, all the social programs touted by the Democratic party as good for minorities have failed. Illiteracy and illigitamacy have nearly quadrupled, yet, when these statistics are pointed out, people like you start hollering about the "hatefulness and greed" of the American people. This is what breeds contempt between the masses. The Democrats want social programs for one simple reason: to improve their constituent base. They give out welfare, free food, medical care and housing and now you owe them. Thanks, but no thanks. Call me greedy or mean-spirited, but my husband and I got where we are today through hard work and sacrifice. We worked our way off the D.C. plantation.

Really? This is where we've come as a nation that people can make fun of the elderly? It's bad enough to be so lacking in dignity and compassion that you would feel it is okay to respond this way to the aged, but how much lower can commenters sink than to mock a woman who spent eight years as our nation's First Lady? Shame on you all, regardless of your political alliances.
Mrs. Reagan, you are one of our few true national treasures. May God bless you.

Yeah, well the past three years have shown us a lot about our nation when they don't like something, hasn't it? For the past three years our country has gone a long way to show our children the ugly, intolerant, mean spirited, hateful and yes, racist side of some Americans. We have shown that our country no longer supports or respect the President of the United States or the office of the President if the person elected wasn't the one some wanted to win. We have shown our children that no matter how hard you work and even if you do the right thing and achieve all of your goals, some still won't respect you or give you a chance. We have taught our children that even if you do become President, if we don't like you, we will do everything we can to destroy you. Yup, we have taught our children how to be intolerant, mean, hateful and greedy and how not to respect our elders or anyone else for that matter. It is really sad indeed.
