WACO, Texas - An AWOL soldier has been indicted on three federal charges in connection with a plot to bomb Fort Hood soldiers in Texas.

Pfc. Naser Jason Abdo was indicted Tuesday by a federal grand jury in Waco.

He's charged with possession of an unregistered destructive device, possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition by a fugitive from justice.

The 21-year-old Abdo faces up to 10 years in federal prison on each charge if convicted.

Abdo told police he was "seeking retaliation" against the Army and indicated that he was planning attacks against the City of Killeen and Fort Hood, the same Texas Army post where 13 people were killed in a 2009 shooting rampage blamed on an Army psychiatrist named Nidal Hasan.

U.S. law enforcement sources told CBS News that a .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun, ammunition clips, more than 100 rounds of ammunition, a large quantity of smokeless gunpowder, batteries, clocks and a pressure cooker were found in Abdo's motel room.

There were indications that Abdo was dismantling shotgun shells to retrieve the gunpowder with the intention of using the pellets as shrapnel in explosive devices.

Abdo had requested conscientious objector status because his Muslim beliefs prevented him from fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan.

During one of his early court appearances, Abdo yelled out "Iraq 2006" and the name of the 14-year-old Iraqi girl who was raped and murdered in 2006 by a U.S. soldier. He then shouted: "Nidal Hasan Fort Hood 2009."

Calling this guy a "Ft. Hood soldier" denigrates every other Ft. Hood soldier on the base. Now that he and Col. Hassan have been indicted can't we identify them as "traitors", or at the very least Ft. Hood muslim soldiers? Col. Hassan even had business cards which referred to himself as a "soldier of allah". Try 'em and fry 'em. This political correctness bs is completely out of wack.

If he's only 21-years-old, he couldn't have joined until after both wars started... and then he wants to conscientiously object? Please! Don't join during a time of war if you can't handle going to war and then go nuts on the people who expect you to do the job you signed up for.

I'm just relieved they caught him before he caused anyone at Fort Hood more turmoil (and they don't need any more turmoil as I know from personal experience) or worse.

WHY use the "AWOL" as an adjective ? Isn't he correct most desriptive word "Muslim-American" ? Just like the Fort Hood Shooter? How far can you PC the truth?
