Norah O'Donnell

Emmy award-winning reporter Norah O'Donnell was named CBS News' Chief White House Correspondent in June 2011.

O'Donnell will also become the principal substitute anchor for "Face The Nation," the growing Sunday morning public affairs broadcast anchored by CBS News' Chief Washington Correspondent Bob Schieffer, and will report for all CBS News broadcasts, including occasionally for "60 Minutes."

O'Donnell has been the Chief Washington Correspondent for MSNBC and a contributing correspondent for "TODAY" and "Weekend TODAY." She also appears regularly on "The Chris Matthews Show" and has co-anchored the 9 a.m. hour of "TODAY."

O'Donnell provided in-depth coverage of the 2008 presidential election, during which she anchored throughout the primaries and reported on the exit polls. She was one of the main anchors for MSNBC's primetime coverage of both the Democratic and Republican conventions, and moderated a panel of MSNBC's chief political analysts. She won an Emmy as part of NBC News' election night coverage.

O'Donnell joined NBC News in 1999. Prior to that, she was a staff reporter for the Capitol Hill newspaper, Roll Call, and worked as a contributor and analyst for MSNBC.

During her 12-year tenure at NBC, O'Donnell's assignments have taken her around the country and the globe. They include coverage of the 2004 presidential campaign of President George W. Bush, as well as the 2000 presidential campaigns of John McCain and George W. Bush. She provided analysis of the debates, the Republican and Democratic conventions, Election Night, as well as the 2000 Florida recount.

For her "Dateline NBC" story, "D.C. In Crisis," which aired on Sept. 11, 2001, O'Donnell was honored with the prestigious Sigma Delta Chi Award for Breaking News Coverage. In the months following the attacks, she traveled extensively with then-Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, reporting on the war in Afghanistan and the war on terrorism.

Born into a military family, O'Donnell grew up in San Antonio, Texas; Landstuhl, Germany; Seoul, Korea; and Washington, D.C. She is a graduate of Georgetown University and received a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy. She also holds a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies from Georgetown University. She is married to Geoff Tracy, a restaurateur in Washington, D.C, where they live with their three children.

Norah, please wake up....we Americans are intelligent and we can thing on our own...we know what is happening and can make our own conclusions. You need to be unbias and report quality not politically spinning the information...We like it or not, the administration in term is responsible for LEADING and for looking into solutions/options short and long term to help stabilize oil prices, talking and blaming other global instabilities or circumstances for the high oil prices in the US is not acceptable and not a solution, we cannot accept it...we are America, we look for solutions and we implement them, we need a leader that will take the challenge and lead, look for options, solutions (more oil, green energy sources, additional nuclear energy, etc), or a combination of energy solutions that add up at the end of the day to an abundant mix of energy that keeps actual oil prices in control. Short term we need to look at every domestic option available to us that will contribute to reduce our dependency on foreign sources of energy...the current Administration needs to acknowledge it; they need to lead and start moving forward on fast track...no action is not an excuse. Meanwhile, we the average American families are the ones feeling the impact and trying to stretch the dollar day by day to feed our families and cover the cost of the high gasoline prices to get to work and to do our day to day activities around town in our cars. Your last story on Obama wants to have a fight about taxes. He wants about 28% in taxes. That is where we are at now. A 1.2 trillion in profits and $300 billion in taxes. That is all the profit that businesses make. A better solution would be, the $300 billion that businesses pay every year in taxes is roughly equal to the amount paid out in early Social Security, Medicare, new Unemployment, Medicade, Food Stamps, along with other lost revenue items and housing repos caused by the loss of jobs. A 10% bottom line tax credit for each 1% increase in hiring would put 10 million back to work overnight. The $300 billion is quickly recovered with new collection in employer and employee Social Security taxes of $45 billion,plus new income and sales taxes as well as other things, along with less government losses from the guarntees on housing because people can now make their house payments. New businesses would start up because of this new economic increase in activity and even more taxes collected with this inceased cash flow. I want zero corporate tax. I want a tax on pay checks, owner, manager or employees. Capital or money or profit is for job creation. The removal of capital, or money causes job losses. please do forgetr that 1.2 trillion is all the profit all the businesses make it year and Obama and the Democrats are spending more that that every year. I also have several other simple ideas to cut medical spending in half and a big cut education spending. You can call me anytime for an honest point of view. I am in the phone book.
