Inexpensive wines that just taste pricey
There's hardly a better way to kick off the summer season than kicking back with a wonderful glass of wine.
But you don't have to pay top dollar for that perfect summer taste, as Food & Wine magazine Executive Wine Editor Ray Isle proved on "The Early Show on Saturday Morning" at the start of the unofficial start of summer, Memorial Day weekend.
The wines Ray brought to the set - only taste like they're expensive!
He went through five categories, giving co-anchor Rebecca Jarvis a taste of each, asking which she liked better, then revealing how much they cost - with one "splurge" and one "steal" in each category.
The wines put to the taste test:
Sauvignon Blanc
2010 Montgras Sauvignon Blanc
2010 Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc
Chardonnay
2009 Bogle Chardonnay
2009 Sonoma Cutrer Sonoma Coast Chardonnay
Rose
2009 Domaines Ott Rosé Chateau de Selle
2010 Mas Carlot Rosé
French Red
2008 Ghislaine Barthod Bourgogne Rouge
2009 Georges Duboeuf Julienas
Cabernet
2008 Cameron Hughes Lot 211 Cabernet Sauvignon
2008 Paul Hobbs Cabernet Sauvignon
