Oprah wants Maria Shriver on OWN: report
Maria Shriver is struggling through an extraordinarily difficult time, but one aspect of the next phase of her professional life may be rounding into shape.
Chicago Sun-Times columnist Michael Sneed says he's been "told Oprah has taken Shriver, one of her best friends, under her voluminous wing and is talking media projects with the former NBC TV anchor/journalist on the TV titan's new OWN network."
Shriver was among the gallery of stars who showed up to pay tribute to Winfrey at the taping of her third- and second-to-last shows, at Chicago's United Center Tuesday night.

Shriver, the Kennedy heiress, appeared on the same day it was revealed her now-estranged husband, Arnold Schwarzenegger, fathered a child with a woman on his household staff more than a decade ago.

Shriver did not mention her husband during the taping.
"You have given me love, support, wisdom and most of all the truth," Shriver told Winfrey. "And I know I'm not alone in receiving those gifts from you."
CBS News correspondent Cynthia Bowers reports OWN's been "struggling to connect with viewers. It's reported to be averaging only 135,000 viewers an hour -- a far cry from the estimated 45 million who watched her show every week. Earlier this month, Oprah brought in new leadership.
Sun-Times columnist Bill Zwecker told CBS News, "I think ... they've gotta get a little more Oprah into OWN."
And that, says Bowers, is exactly what Oprah plans to do. Once her show goes off the air next week, the only place you'll be able to see her is on the network that bears her name.

Do the show Ms Shriver.
It could be a ratings boom for Oprah, but I bet she'd have offered it to Maria even if it wasn't. Not just because it's an interesting story that some people could relate to (that also has the potential to inspire people if it's about perseverence in dealing with betrayals of trust, adversity, defining your life after a setback, being a mom), but because she's her friend.
I think it'd be great ... I keep forgetting about Oprah's channel. Has Rosie started yet?
Yes, she has. She's on something called "The Doc Club". I saw the first one the other night. There was a Documentary thing on about Chaz Bono, and after it was over, Rosie interviewed him. So I guess that is what she is doing. There will be documentaries on people and she will interview them. I actually thought she was going to be doing an actual "talk show", but maybe this is it? I'm not sure. I know they said that she would be taking over Opah's studio, but it was dark, so it was hard to tell if it was.
I like watching the Judd's and Shania Twain's shows. Also the "Behind the scenes of the Oprah Show" is pretty good. It's kinda neat seeing all the crap that goes on, in getting someone on the show.
She's pretty entertaining with whatever she does though, so I'm sure I'll enjoy it - will definitely have to make a point of checking out some of these shows! :))
