Uncle Mo scratched from Kentucky Derby

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Uncle Mo isn't running in Saturday's Kentucky Derby.

Owner Mike Repole says the colt has been scratched because he hasn't recovered enough from a stomach ailment to run in the 1 1/4-mile race. Uncle Mo was the 9-2 second choice on the morning line.

That reduces the field for the 137th Derby to 19 horses. Dialed In is the 4-1 early favorite.

Repole made the announcement Friday morning, about 40 minutes before Derby wagering opened. In 2009, Derby favorite I Want Revenge was scratched on the morning of the race with a career-ending leg injury.

Uncle Mo's illness was discovered after he was upset in the Wood Memorial on April 9.

With uncle Mo scratched there is no real favorite from the field. Late today it was announced that Doug Ayers from Danville Ky had registered a young filly Alot-a-Gas sponsored by his Methane and Turnip Gas recycle project in Danville as Bank CEO of Bluegrass Community Bank. bankalchemist.
