Gates: Intel shows Qaddafi planting bodies at attack sites

On "Face the Nation" airing Sunday, Defense Secretary Robert Gates told CBS News chief Washington Correspondent Bob Schieffer that intelligence reports indicate Muammar Qaddafi's forces are planting dead bodies of civilians at sites attacked by coalition forces.

"We do have a lot of intelligence reporting about Qaddafi taking the bodies of the people he's killed and putting them at the sites where we've attacked," Gates told Schieffer in an interview taped Saturday.

Gates stressed that coalition forces have been "extremely careful in this military effort" and commended coalition air forces saying, they "have really done an extraordinary job."

Schieffer asked Gates if the Qaddafi regime is planting bodies at more than one location. While acknowledging that bodies have been moved to more than one location, Gates could not say how many.

"We just get various reports," he replied.

It looks like Obama was over powered by some one to take immediate military action raising hue and cry of slaughtering of thousands of civilians in Benghazi by Moammer Gadhafi if we would not had taken military action. on this pretext, we passed half heartily the UN Resolution and started another war in the third Muslim nation. In reality, Many towns have been fallen and captured and fall again, but the world did not notice any massacres or genocide or mass murdering by Libyan forces for the last 10 days. The American and NATO bombing might have killed more military and innocent civilians as we are doing for the last 10+ years in other two wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The best way out is to declare Gadhafi as war criminal and picked up him physically using all means from Tripoli and send him to Hague to face charges and punishment. Meanwhile, let the Libyan public decide about the new Constitution, preparation for the election and handing over the power to the elected government. We can have similar smooth, straight forward, humanitarian policies for all the nations where the public is suffering under autocrats or occupiers. If we have double or more standards for each nation, it would be better, we should remain silent. Otherwise, no one will believe us in future.

the libyian military is no match for UN or USA military power since most of its arms are post-war era. if anything, libya is like the puny school yard kid being bullied by the big bully. the arab league should be dealing with qaddafi and no other nation state. how many billions have been spent already by the USA for the attack on libya and how many more billions will it spend and for how long? obama has involved the nation in yet another military action at the cost of billions when the USA cannot afford it. 14 million children homeless in the USA but obama is spending billions to take out qaddafi. libyians cheered when bin laden took out the WTC in NY, so why are we even involved in saving their sorry behinds. americans are so very gullible, and perhaps somewhat stupid.
