Giuliani: Hillary would've been better than Obama

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani came out swinging in his first public appearance in New Hampshire since the 2008 campaign. At a Republican dinner, he came down hard on President Obama, calling the president a "failure" and offering his opinion that "Hillary Clinton would have been better."

At the Manchester GOP Lincoln Reagan Dinner on Friday, Giuliani had the appearance of a candidate for the 2012 presidential campaign. The former mayor says he hasn't decided whether to run or not, but certainly gave the impression of someone fired up about the campaign in a blistering speech.

"He really seems like he doesn't know what he's doing," Giuliani said of President Obama. He accused the president of "dithering" over the situation in Libya and declared that Obama has displayed the worst presidential decision making on foreign policy he has ever seen.

"That's what we want in this country?" Giuliani asked the crowd of roughly 100 people. "Can we stand two more years of this? Well, we're going to have to."

Giuliani also took time to laud the Tea Party, calling it "one of the best things that's happened to American democracy in a very, very long time." The potential candidate told the crowd that he considered himself a member of the tea party movement.

In the bombastic speech, Giuliani acknowledged one regret - not spending more time in New Hampshire during the 2008 primary race. He finished fourth in the New Hampshire primary that year and ended his campaign shortly thereafter.

A Guiliani endorsement for Hillary seems more like a kiss of death.

They do have somewhat similar personalities, deep down.

Maybe they can run together on the same ticket ?

I'm a dedicated Republican but having registered Democrat because my Dad was a 'union' worker staunch Democrat.

However, I don't believe in the government having to 'give freebies' to everyone especially my hard earned working dollars, while even Government workers and especially Senators and Congressmen voting themselves increases etc.

I too firmly believe Hillary would have been better, she had 8 years experience in the white house and some years as Senator.

Obama should leave after 4 years

Well Rudy, I imagine you would. With Obama you have had to get so silly with birth records trying to make him look bad. But with Hillary, well, here comes your media with one remembrance after another of Whitewater and Lewinsky. Has anyone ever noticed that when we see films of FDR, we almost never saw his wheelchair, but when we saw news films of George Wallace we never saw him NOT in his wheelchair? It is that simple to skew the publics preceptions.

Giuliani daughter was caught on tape stealing makeup in August of last year. I don't think you are in position to call the president a failure. You are failure as father to you estangled daughter and husband. What about the family values?

Oh but how they attacked Hillary with such smear and venom. Maybe what would have been best would have been for the cons to have taken all three branches. The people would have seen them for what they are, only problem is, the government would have been made manifest a consortium of monarchs.

They had all three branches for most of that eight years and Americans saw them for what they are. That is why democrats won in 2008. Then, before they had a chance to polish thier new seats Repubs started critisizing and obstructing. Despite this voters again listened to their twisted rhetoric and voted them in again.
No one in America pays attention to anything these people actually do. Just what they say.

he's scum for handing out "never forget 9/11 pins"?

When he tries to use a national tragedy for his own personal political gain, yes, that makes him scum.

I hope we never build a mosque anywhere near ground zero.

Well, you'd better ban ALL religious buildings, then.

And you won't be building it, so there's no "we".

jgg000101 replies:

actually, I'll be all for banning all religious buildings that are planned near sites where worshippers killed and destroyed in the name of their religion.
slownewsdayomewannagohome replies:

Well, then you shouldn't want Christian churches in Iraq, since GWB invaded because his "God" told him to.

Think before you type. A few from a religion are not indicative of the whole.

History shows that oil-based economies tend to be negatively correlated to democracy. And regime-changes that come about via military coups tend not to lead to greater democratization. That's what history shows.

So the question of end-game is highly relevant to whether or not it's worth fighting a battle, just to lose a war. Everybody knows Gadhafi'll be tossed out of office no problem because he's overwhelmed militarily - but what comes after that when Libya's left without a leader, and everybody tries to make a power-grab for control of all that oil???

Ordinarily, I would agree with you. But in this circumstance, the international community is pretty much in agreement that Quadaffi is really quite insane. And that is dangerous.

Sometimes--especially when there is real agreement among civilized nations--use of our military might is justifiable and the morally correct thing to do. I tend to believe that is the case here.
