Bush Daughter Backs Same-Sex Marriage
Former first daughter Barbara Bush is taking a very public stand in support of same-sex marriage.
Bush added her voice to a campaign called "New Yorkers for Marriage Equality," which is sponsored by the Human Rights Campaign.
In a video on the group's website, Bush says, "I'm Barbara Bush, and I'm a New Yorker for marriage equality. New York is about fairness and equality. And everyone should have the right to marry the person that they love. Join us."
She lives in Manhattan.
As president, her father, George W. Bush, pushed for a constitutional amendment banning same sex marriage.
The Human Rights Campaign, which calls itself "the nation's largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) civil rights organization," says, "Bush's advocacy shows that equality knows no party label and raises the profile of this timely fight for equal marriage rights in the Empire State."
It continued, "Barbara Bush joins prominent Republicans like her mother, Laura Bush, as well as Dick Cheney and Ted Olson as supporters of marriage equality. Her position also reflects her generation with 68 percent of New Yorkers between the ages of 18-34 supporting marriage for same-sex couples."
The Campaign adds that a January 2011 Siena Research Institute Poll found 57 percent of New Yorkers support marriage equality. In another poll, just released by Quinnipiac University, New Yorkers support marriage equality by the highest margin ever in that poll, 56 percent to 37 percent, the Campaign says.

To Baghdad and my fellow Christians:
Thank you so much. I know that God is watching.
==========
I believe you mean "The Flying Spaghetti Monster is watching".
Happy to help!
it is just another sign of end times so called Christians denying the lord Jesus and his word Sodomy it is wrong and sinful as well as aids come from this gross act, sorry homosexuals do not have a civil right to get married that is something that God gave to a man and a woman and last time i checked God created man for a woman to leave his parents and to cleave to her for better or for worst in sickness and in health,

What about hermaphrodites? Which gender did God intend for them to marry, since you seem to know what he/she is thinking, which is pretty big and dare I say blasphemous for you to propose. Look in the mirror before you judge others, guy.
apr?s "papa Bush" c'est la "fille Bush" qui ?prouve ce besoin d'?tre
m?diatis?e,

service to society and not to destroy
au revoir

what a strange inclusion in this story. it's about as pertinent to the issue as her beautiful eyes.
This is about a secular license issued by the government.
Big difference.
.

didn't god create all things ... including those who have a desire for others of the same sex? if god created it ... wouldn't it be as 'intentional' as any other thing you might classify as 'normal'?
What she should do, (not that I think she will,) is to dust off her Bible and dig in. Also, some late night conversations with her Mom might help.
--------------------
Why is it that people who ardently proclaim themselves Christians have such trouble telling the truth?
Laura Bush said this on Larry King in May: "I think there are a lot of people who have trouble coming to terms with that because they see marriage as traditionally between a man and a woman, but I also know that when couples are committed to each other and love each other that they ought to have the same sort of rights that everyone has."
So, Barbara probably DID have a talk with her mom - and her grandma, too.
.
We were once a great country. Very sad.
(I jest!)
