Tucson Victim "Outraged" Giffords Was Shot

Eric Fuller was shot in Tucson Ariz. Saturday during the rampage Jared Loughner is accused of carrying out.

It left six people dead and 13 wounded.

Fuller, 63, a military veteran, former limo driver and avid tennis player, is a strong supporter of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, who was shot through the brain.

He cut a tennis game short Saturday so he could hear her speak, only to be shot in the leg and hit in the back with bullet fragments. He drove himself to the hospital and was released Monday.

On "The Early Show" Tuesday, Fuller said he's "doing fine, physically. Miraculously, feeling very lucky. I'm outraged that someone like Gabrielle Giffords was attacked."

The scene was, Fuller told co-anchor Chris Wragge, "like a bad crime drama, with a gun being pointed towards me, and a very, seemed like athletic young man pumping rounds off at everybody, and taking aim at us. So, not wanting to leave the world very soon, and not thinking that I could do very much except maybe get killed trying to stop him from the vantage point that I was at, I fell to the ground. As other people were doing. And expected the worst to occur after that."

"I felt the round enter my knee. I didn't know about the fragment in my back. I was incredulous. It was a dream-like sequence, a bad dream-like sequence. I -- I hadn't ever had any kind of trauma experience at that level before. And I didn't know -- I didn't quite know how to react. I felt like we were in for more, and possibly to be given a coup de grace by this madman that was so vigorously exercising his Second Amendment rights."

Fuller says he saw Patricia Maisch knock the clip out of the gunman's hand. "I think that was probably gonna to be intended as, I felt that was -- I sensed that that was going to be the end of me," Fuller told Wragge.

If he could, Fuller says he'd "give (Giffords) every kind of encouragement that I could possibly think of. And (he'd tell her) I would like to thank her on behalf of veterans such as myself, for standing up for veterans, and for supporting bills that were supportive of veterans, and I would want her to return to her job and continue to be effective in her role as -- as defending the public interest."

Mr. Fuller, a hard core liberal, was arrested just a few hours ago. He went to a town hall meeting that was supposed to be about healing and threatened to kill conservatives. He's now locked up (where he should be). This will be fun payback. The dems blamed Palin before Gifford's body hit the ground with no proof to back up their claims. We now have a hard core liberal who's worked for political organizations threatening to kill conservatives on camera. Karma, it will get you every time dems.

Both parties are full of nuts. On one side, you have a bunch of morons that think that pre-emptive war is fine and dandy, that the federal government has some sort of right to enforce drugs laws ignoring that a constitutional amendment had to be passed to make alcohol illegal nationwide, think that deficits don't matter as long as a Republican is president, doesn't care about the 1st amendment as signaled by their support of the Patriot Act, and etc...

The other side is a bunch of lunatics that think that every problem has to be addressed by the government, thinks that it's a good idea to outlaw gun ownership meaning that only criminals will has no moral qualms about owning and using them, thinks that the government can intervene in any business "for the good of the people", etc.

Both parties are full of complete morons. You're a complete moron. Palin is an idiot, and people like you support her. The Tea Party movement is dead, it's just a bunch of dumb Neocons now.

While the real story should continue to focus on insane criminality, and the tragic loss. This outrage is still another tragic addemdum to the fallacy that it's the Tea-Party that's violent & out of control. I hope this sicko gets help before he does something serious--BTW I suspect it's time for all the Tea Party haters TO: **** & work instead on crafting ideals that will disprove the motivational templates, that attract individuals to the Tea Party movement...

. Let's have an honest non-hateful debate. Just because some of us have no particular interest in guns, we are the villains. And fair is fair, you should not be villainized for wanted to have a gun ..... however, this is still America and there MUST be a middle ground, because no matter what side of the isle you fall on I think we can all agree ..... there is no need for senseless deaths !!

My sympathies to Mr. Fuller, but he's obviously an idealogue first and foremost. There is NO TIE between the nutcase who shot you and the list of accomplices you have listed. NONE!!!! Yet, you and people like you are so full of hate for those who you disagree with that even after being shot and the evidence showing that he was a loner loser, you still want to take out your political "enemies". I feel sorry for you Mr. Fuller.

Very tragic for Mr. Fuller to have been witness to such a horror. Having said that, I am deeply concerned that he perpetuates the very rhetoric he blames for this tragedy. It is widely accepted among reasonable people that "political vitriol" had absolutely nothing to do with inspiring this lunatic to murder. Mr. Fullers insistance that it did, marginalizes him and the party he works so hard to defend.

When Mr. Fuller discussed 2nd amendment rights, he was critically referring to Sharon Angle's use of the phrase "Second Amendment Remedies" (see: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CU9GXil9Vm8). He was on Democracy Now today (1/14/11) and here is one quote of what Mr. Fuller said: "It looks like Palin, Beck, Sharron Angle and the rest got their first target. Their wish for Second Amendment activism has been fulfilled." (http://www.democracynow.org/2011/1/14/tucson_shooting_survivor_it_looks_like)

I think people should have the right to have guns. My daughter lived in Chicago and they took that right away from citizens. What happened? All the bad people had them and the crime rate sky rocketed. They had to call in the Natl. Guard. No matter what, people that want to use guns to kill will get a hold of one. I rather see good honest citizens have guns to protect themselves. I do think they need to know how to use one.

i am still not really sure which side of the gun debate i fall on....but one thing i have noticed...i read a lot more stories about mass murders and kids getting a hold of a gun and accidentally shooting themselves or someone else...than i hear about how a homeowner pulled out a gun and saved their lives and their families lives from an intruder.

If someone comes into your home with a gun its pretty difficult to go to the closet...load the gun...and fire...seems like guns should be carried by police..military...and maybe shop keepers in dangerous areas...but at home they just seem to kill innocent people or get into the hands of nutcases like this guy!!!
