Dave Price Returns!

"Early Show" Weather Anchor Dave Price finally reached the finish line in the weeklong "No Way Home" series on Friday. Dave entered the plaza in grand fashion, with a big crowd of fans cheering him across the finish line. Duffle bags of coats topped and filled his rental car - all donations from across the U.S. for the "No Way Home" Jacket Drive, inspired by one viewer's story.

All week long Dave has been working his way across the U.S. Last Friday, he set out from Anchorage, Alaska, with a backpack, $50 and a Windows Phone. He would have to depend on the kindness of strangers to help him get home.

After making his exuberant return to the plaza, Dave spoke with his fellow "Early Show" anchors about his journey, saying, though he enjoys his job, he loves being out on the road, meeting people and hearing their stories.

I have been in contact with a woman who teaches on Pine Ridge Rez and 14 of her kids are coming to school in only sweaters because they have no winter coats! I am sure you all have seen the weather in South Dakota right now. Would you want your kids going out like that? Also, another couple on Rosebud Rez says there is a need there for Blankets... These aren't websites asking for help, they are real people. Please, please, do what you can to help. I can accept donations of new or lightly used winter wear for 10-13 year olds or any age for that matter, and blankets too, and ship them out there. I can also check and see if it's ok that i send the direct addresses of those on both rez's that can distribute these items..

Help with the same things as above, is needed at the womens shelter on Red Lake... Please, whatever you can spare will be put to good use by sisters who sometimes show up with their kids and just the clothes on their backs...

David, I know full well the joy I saw on your face this morning when talking about your coat ministy. I have a ministry involving quilts. I am a stay at home mom, not by choice, I have a differently abled 24 year old son who lives in an apartment in our house. For safety reasons he needs 24/7 supervision and because of it the only job I work at outside of our home is one I can take my son to. It is in housekeeping at a local retreat center. I so enjoyed you working in housekeeping to earn money for your journey. It is hard physical labor. I work one day a week and spend the rest of my time in my quilt ministry. I have made many quilts for many charities and although I may never know the recipients, I know there are over a hundred people in many countries covered in quilts to keep them warm. They know someone somewhere cares for them. I work with a couple of local quilt guilds and my church sewing ministry making quilts for Quilts of Valor for soldiers and their families, for cancer wards, for children removed from their homes by social services, for older people in nursing homes and still in their own homes that they can't afford to heat to a comfortable level. You will take this coat ministry with you for years to come and you will never know the far reaching effects most of them will bring. My only wish is that I could make more quilts and am working on saving up for a short arm quilting machine so I can quilt faster and make more quilts. Even my differently abled son has a mission. He spreads LOVE one hug at a time. Every time we go shopping he has to stop and hug almost everyone. He especially loves hugging people in wheelchairs. He will gently take their hands and just hold them for a moment and look into their eyes with a look that says "I understand". My son cannot speak but he can communicate volumes through his hugs. I have a speaking ministry I sometimes do to motivate people to use whatever they have to help their fellow man, how if you only have a little, finding others around you with a little and combining them, you have much to give. God Bless you for all you are doing through this coat ministry and you will reap Blessings far beyond what you realize at this point in time.

I have always enjoyed watching you and was so glad when I moved from NY to Virginia to give my son a better life, that I could still get the Early Show on broadcast TV here. I will continue to watch where your coat ministy goes and will dig out a few coats and donate them.
