3 Whitney Hikers Found; 2 Others Missing
Three hikers missing on California's Mt. Whitney have been found safe, but officials say two other hikers are now reported missing.
Sequoia National Park spokeswoman Dana Dierkes says 34-year-old Michael Abraham, 43-year-old Stevan Filips and 45-year-old Dale Clymens were found by search teams around noon Thursday.
Dierkes says the three men from the Omaha, Neb., area were found in a hut after taking shelter during a snowstorm.
The three hikers were reported missing Monday evening on the 14,494-foot Mt. Whitney, the highest peak in the continental United States.
But Dierkes says two additional hikers have also been reported missing after failing to return from a hike Tuesday.
