Book Flies Behind Obama at Rally

A book was tossed in the direction of President Obama as he was waving to the crowd Sunday after a campaign speech in Philadelphia.

It didn't hit him but did fly behind him.

The Secret Service says it was aware of the incident when it happened.

A spokesman says the book was thrown by an "over-exuberant" individual who wanted Obama to have a copy of a book he had written.

The Secret Service says it interviewed the book thrower and deemed there was no threat - just bad judgment on his part. No arrest was made and the Service declined to give his name.

At the same rally, a streaker was arrested. Apparently, the nude man was trying to win $1 million in a publicity stunt for a website.

The streaker wasn't involved in the book throwing, says the Secret Service.

CBS News correspondent Jeff Glor told the story on "The Early Show":

Do you live in a bubble? The Democrats have had congress to themselves for years and as their farewell to an era - in which (when they actually did something of consequence) they essentially did the very things America DID NOT want - they leave undecided the very thing which can at least allow people to have something to base crucial upcoming fiscal decisions (which could lead to massive job creation). I didn't even vote for Bush and I'm still just flat out sick of the childish 'blame-game' liberals can't seen to steer away from. I don't envy Obama's job or the DECADES worth of problems his position demands he address, but seriously - do you actually think Bush had the power you think he did? Don't you realize that the power is in the hands of special interests, their lobbyists, and the people in Congress too lazy to read the bills that don't directly affect how much they stand to illegally gain.

Thank you, ABunker, for the Constitution comment. There are laws being illegally passed by the judicial branch of our revolutionary, renowned 3 branch government outlined in our Constitution (which has been a model for more [other country's] constitutions than anything EVER written). Once we get back to the Constitution - and quit this elementary school finger pointing - we will truly see change. If you're used to getting things you don't deserve, you'll probably not like the changes. Too bad. There is a process for changing the Constitution that is being circumvented (I know that's a big word - but it's appropriate) more than ever. It's called AMENDING. Ideally, this ludicrous practice of liberal judges creating and passing laws will stop and the ones they did create will be repealed. ALL OF THOSE LAWS ARE ILLEGALLY IN PLACE- and many of them are to blame for the downward spiral you're experiencing. Stop blaming a puppet like Bush (or Obama, for all of you right wing crybabies) and get over it.

Is anyone concerned that this guy was allowed to throw the book near the President?

This really sounds like a set up. Someone throws a book at the president and they do not arrest him.

It must have been the Marxist extremist, Saul Allinsky's, "Rules For Radicals," which was one of Obama's guiding lights during his formative years.

Is this a cover up? Perhaps the book thrower was not a fan.
