Mercedes-Benz Recalls 85K Cars for Steering
Mercedes-Benz is recalling about 85,000 of its 2010 and 2011 cars in the United States because of potential steering problems.
The luxury automaker says in a report to federal regulators that the steering systems in the cars "may fail due to the loss of power steering fluid."
Mercedes-Benz says if that happens, drivers may not have sufficient control of the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
The recall affects the 2010 Mercedes C-Class and the 2010 and 2011 E-Class Coupe and Cabriolet models.
The company says owners may return the cars to dealers, who will check the powering steering systems for free.
