Axelrod Leaving WH; Emmanuel Likely Next

President Obama's inner circle will likely be losing some key players. CBS News senior White House correspondent Bill Plante reports that sources say David Axelrod, the president's closest advisor, will move to Chicago next spring.

Axelrod is expected to reassume his role as campaign manager in Mr. Obama's 2012 reelection bid. A potential, if not likely, replacement for Axelrod is current White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs.

The dominoes don't stop there. Rahm Emanuel, the president's Chief of Staff, may leave the White House as soon as next month.

Emanuel has told colleagues that he's very likely to run for mayor of Chicago, and that could see him depart the White House in October.

"I'm not going to rule anything in or out. He's in the process of thinking through what's best for Rahm," Gibbs told reporters Wednesday on Air Force One.

The staff shake up comes as the president is set to address the United Nations General Assembly on Thursday, attempting to reaffirm America's position as a global leader.

Mr. Obama will urge world leaders Thursday to back an agreement to establish an independent Palestinian state, and stress his administration's efforts to slow the spread of nuclear weapons and boost the world economy.

At the U.N. development summit, Mr. Obama said Wednesday that the U.S. would focus its aid on lifting developing nations out of poverty.

"Let me be clear, the United States of America has been, and will remain, the global leader in providing assistance. We will not abandon those who depend on us for life saving help," the president told the gathering.

RunswithWolves please go back online and review the elections going back to 1996. Look and see who is in office in the White House and Congress during those years. Look and see who the Speakers were and Majority Leaders have been. Look at the state of the economy with ALL. You will see a dramatic change and not for the better starting in 2006. If you will, please note, Republican President in White House in 2006. Democrats take over Congress in 2006. Then be honest with yourself and go read the bills and laws starting with 2006. Then tell me how you can say it is ALL Bush's fault!! BE HONEST for just once!!!

I never said it was ALL Bushes fault, but he did have a 'free pass' throughout most of his presidency. The Democrats did not blockade all of his bills as you well know. Obama has been blockaded by Repubs since day one. Both parties are to blame for our sorry state of affairs but I do put a majority of blame on the Repubs starting with your guru Reagan..

I wouldn't want to work with him either, at this point. He's in a big predicament simply b/c he is not listening and believes his mindset is the only mindset there is. He should have me on his staff, so I could straighten him out. I wonder what his wife thinks of him now???? She surely could'nt be going along with what Obama is doing.

Oh!Bama's policies are a miserable failure and getting worse by the day. He is incapable of reversing himself and trying some things that are outside the liberal mantra. Maybe a new batch of Congress people can institute policies that have a chance of lighting a fire under our economy.

To JackP32:
Let's see. Obama has caved in to all of the pro business special interests including Big Pharma on the health care overhaul. He caved in to the credit card lobbyists on credit card reform. Where has he been so liberal. The status quo has gotten everything it wanted from Obama so far. That is the only fault I have with Obama. He is not liberal enough. That is why the economy is not improving yet. Until the status quo is broken in America, there will be no improvement.

Axelrod & Emmanuel are part of an administration that hasn't kept it's pre-election promises to the public, instead, choosing to fulfill the agenda of corporate America!

So, now, after less than two years, they're leaving! They're quitters!!

Who started the notion that Obama is a Marxist? Does he advocate a proletariat dictatorship with the state ownership of the means of production? Glen Beck is responsible for this nonsense, just as he is for calling Obama a racist who hated white people. He is a recovering alcoholic who never finished his education. He has a seventh grade understanding of the constitution and lots of personal hang ups who makes $30 million a year by manipulating the dumb Goyim the way Hitler did. Fortunately, Beck has zero charisma or this would all be much worse. Turning power back to the old GOP crowd who brought us all out current problems would be nothing short of crazy.

When all else fails, blame Glenn Beck! I fail to see any mention of Marxist or Glenn Beck in this story.

Do you Repubs really think Obama could turn this huge broken economy around in 1.5 years?????? After inheriting the incredible mess he inherited??? Get real. You know damn well Bush left a totally wrecked economy after 8 years of reduced oversight. It is a fact. Even God himself could not turn this ship so quickly. We are in for a long ride no matter who the President is and I don't give a damn if it is a Republican, Democrat or Tea Partier.

Wow! This is how you people really feel. You guys need to do your homework, beofre posting such idiotic comments. You think axing the stimulus & repealing health is the answer. You say the president is not managing. Just suppose you would elected McCain, who thought the ecomony was just fine, what the state of our economy would be like. They're two disease the will cost over trillion $$ if nothing is done in the next 5 to 10 yrs, Diabetes & Alzheirmers. We need health care, now we need to focus on the cost containment. If the Republicans really "reclaim goverment" this would of been a prudent time to act. Instead, they want to be obstructionist. Remember we're paying for a war & poor decisions.
