Reports: Holloway's Mom Confronts van der Sloot

Beth Holloway Twitty, the mother of missing Alabama teen Natalee Holloway, reportedly snuck into a Peruvian jail and confronted the young man who is the prime suspect in her daughter's disappearance.

Local media say Twitty had a hidden camera with her, but that van der Sloot clammed up.

She was then taken into custory herself, the reports say.

According to CBS News Correspondent Kelly Cobiella, the last time Twitty came face-to-face with van der Sloot was the night after Natalee disappeared.

This time, reports say, their meeting was very brief - but dramatic.

Van der sloot has been in Peru's notorious Castro Castro Prison for almost four months, charged with the brutal murder of a 21-year-old Peruvian woman, Stephany Flores.

According to Peruvian news agencies, Twitty managed to see him again Thursday.

Van der Sloot has long been the prime suspect in her daughter's disappearance on the island of Aruba five-and-a-half years ago.

Apparently, Holloway snuck into the prison without being identified and carrying a hidden camera, aided by a Dutch TV reporter who's doing a special on Natalee, and spent about five minutes with van der Sloot.

She's said to have started the meeting by telling him she had "no hate in her soul" for him.

Van der Sloot reportedly responded by handing Twitty his attorney's business card and saying he couldn't speak without his lawyer present.

Gossip website Radaronline.com goes further, claiming Twitty asked direct questions about Natalee's disappearance, but that van der Sloot refused to answer.

Twitty's attorney, John Q. Kelly, confirms only that his client is in Peru, saying, "She's a mother, without a daughter. She wants to bring her daughter home."

Peruvian authorities quickly removed Twitty from the prison, and local media say she's being detained by those authorities.

The girl should have known better to go there in the first place.Oh yea rich kids learn early that they are above the law, drinking at 18.That the big bad world can't touch them,so much for that idea.I want to after all this time to feel for the mother ,but she should have known better to let her child go that far off with out a escort, adult. So don't use common sense and now you pay with your childs life, and guilt for the mother to carry forever.Hey, I have Two kids ,11 and 19, I still watch them like a hawk, and they love me for it.They have there freedoms and I don't denied anything to them.My 19 year old ,is free to do most anything for his age,but drink, he could care less.Wants to make something of hisslf and party and drinking goes nowhere.

Who died and made you God. It really is too bad the world isn't perfect like you. You better be careful of what you say about other people's children because you never know when something tragic might happen to one of yours and hopefully people's response will be a little more compassionate and a hell of a lot less judgemental than yours. Shame on you!

mb91764 said, among other things "Oh yea rich kids learn early that they are above the law, drinking at 18."

Newsflash to an insensitive know-it-all...Drinking at 18 is LEGAL in many places, and Aruba is one of those places. And I feel sorry for your kids.

There is something seriously wrong with this woman. I would be very upset too and demand answers also if I was her. However, she just can't understand that she is making things a lot worse for herself.
The way she is putting energy into the wrong efforts is like she is trying to compensate for something about herself. It is almost like it isn't about her daughter anymore.

Perhaps you do not understand the power of a mother's love. A love so deep that it consumes everything about you. She may have been wrong to do so in the eyes of many. But maybe she thought "what have I got to lose"? She has already lost a part of herself when her daughter went missing. At that point she would do whatever it takes for the answer she desperately yearns for.

Well perhaps when and if you every have a daughter you might understand a little more. I do not understand why people want to judge and criticize people who have experienced such tragedy. Walk a mile in her moccassins before you judge. If it were my daughter and I have three I really don't know what I would do but I certainly wouldn't need some armchair shrink sitting back in their comfortable environment analyzing me.

How the heck do you "sneak" into a prison? More like a bribe. They didn't detect her hidden camera...that camera could have been gun, knife, etc!!

I understand Beth's desire for answers. I'd keep trying too but this attempt seemed so far fetched. She may have blown any realistic future undercover attempts b/c now joran's going to have his guard up. Anyway, hopes she's ok down there.

EXACTLY! Why can't this woman get it through her thick head that she is the one hindering the investigation?

I totally understand the need for Beth Twitty to find out what happened to her daughter, Natalee, any loving mother would do the same. However,
what I don't understand is why she did'nt take this much time and effort
to investigate why 17 year old high school students need to go on a graduation trip to Aruba !? From the beginning of this mystery I just could not wrap my head around the fact that there were actually parents out there that thought this idea made any sense. Aruba is an adult playground so why is anyone surprised that these kids sought out adult
activities IE : alcohol, late night dance clubs, drugs, sexual activity,
casinos , midnight walks on the beach ..... ?? When I graduated we went to visit the state capitol on the train ...and, we did not stay over night. Why were these young people put into a situation that they could not handle !? As I understand from news articles, there were 30+ students with 5 adult (?) chaperones. Does anyone else see a problem here but me ? This trip was doomed from the start because so many adult providers did not do their homework by thinking this "vacation" was sensable.

First of all she was 18. Second it is very common for Seniors to go on trips like this because they have already graduated from high school. This all took place after they graduated. You really don't think that kids younger then this go to places and party. Heck they do things like this with their parents!

I wonder about that too.Its didn't matter that she was 18,just out of school. To let your kid go to a little place that far away to party and drink was asking for trouble. Its bad enough what gos on at spring break ever year in this country. Now these rich parents let there kids go to Mexico and those islands to get drunk and lord knows what else.Being 18 was not a excuse to let her go off and party drunk,I believe the legal age in Alabama is still 21,but her mommy think they were above the law.She would have use better sense her child would be alive today. She must not understand that all the crazy don't come from just U.S.A. even if we do have the most it seems.I'm always been sorry for her lost, but it was one of those times she should have use better judgement and told her child no.

First, two things here are "plain stupid.." You don't sneak into a prison.
Anywhere. You don't accomplish anything by breaking the law in any country
especially Peru. It is certainly tragic and terrible to lose a child, but
you don't make it worse by throwing your life into a hole like this.
Throw your energy into reforms, advocacy, anti-human trafficking and so
on there is so much she could do without getting busted in a third world
country engaging in what most folks will perceive as a dumb stunt.

Do you have any idea how desperate a mother would be to find out what happened to her child?

I admit that it's not the most sensible thing to do, but how sensible do you think YOU'D be if this had been YOUR child?

You really need to change your user name because going through these posts, you are really against anyone who DOES NOT AGREE WITH YOU. Are people not entitiled to their own opinions? I did comment to your reply to my earlier post, but forgot one thing, I do have a child and I am proud to say that I am raising said child to be opinionated and stand up for oneself and not let people like you tell others how to think/feel. Last time I checked I was in America and it is my right as well as everyone else on this blog to state how THEY feel not what how YOU want them to feel. Have a nice weekend.

Move on. I'd sure not want to be her husband (I believe she and hubby were divorced because of this fixation), or any of her other children. She has no room for anything but Natty. Move on. Especially if she is religious in any way. Better world and all that.... Move on. That doesn't mean forget, but does mean that life is for the living and she is obsessed with the dead.....

Put yourself in HER shoes before you make such heartless comments!

Many married couples divorce after the loss of a child, simply because the pain is too great for BOTH of them.

Have YOU ever lost a child? Your comment is extremely mean-spirited, although I'm sure that you think that you're "above it all".

[That doesn't mean forget, but does mean that life is for the living and she is obsessed with the dead.....]

you're presuming that she's already dead to make this conclusion ... and her problem is that she really doesn't know this for sure.

what if she's still alive? what would this mean for her to 'move on' ... and for her to stop trying to determine what really happened to her daughter? i'm guessing she just can't do that ... her life now is driven by what her instinct is as a mother ... to do everything she can to protect her daughter ... even if it doesn't make sense to you.
