Daycare Finds Pot Stashed in Baby's Diaper Bag

A young father probably wishes he would have just checked his infant daughter's diaper before taking her to daycare.

The daycare called police to report a worker found a small bag of marijuana in the infant's diaper.

It happened at the Waco Child Development Infant Center in Waco, Texas, reports CBS News Affiliate KWTX.

Police say the father apparently hid the "small baggy" of marijuana and then forgot about it.

When a worker went to change the girl, the drugs were found.

On Saturday, police arrested 23-year-old David Shepherd.

According to police records he was charged with abandoning or endangering a child. He was released from the McLennan County Jail on Sunday afternoon after posting bond.

Actually, the child could have eaten the marijuana, thats probably why he caught that charge. BUT it wont cause any physical damage so therefore, the man shouldnt have been charged with ENDANGERMENT. I was charged for Poss cntrld substance and it wasnt even on me....IT WASNT EVEN MINE! buuut thats waco, tx for ya!

This is absolutely ridiculous; how does marijuana endanger a child?
Even if his daughter learned how to roll it up and light it there is no way it could produce a lethal overdose. It is far more dangerous for a parent to leave beers in a fridge. Marijuana is safer than alcohol, marijuana is not a threat to the physical and emotional health and safety of the child.
Time to end prohibition, again.

This is so stupid!!! What if it had been a bottle of Wild Turkey? The child could have possibly drank it, but to smoke the marijuana or whatever they thought she would do to endanger herself impossible, but nothing would have been done if it had been.

Only in Waco TX is it perfectly okay to have a wife and 5 live in girlfriends, skirt educational laws based on religious practice, run a cult without a license, break state and federal laws based on religion, kill your wife's lover if caught in the act of cheating and yet get get arrested for stashing a little personal use marijuana in a diaper bag.
