Feds Deem Fire at Tenn. Mosque Site Arson

(AP)  Federal investigators have decided a suspicious fire that damaged construction equipment at the site of a future mosque in Tennessee was arson.

U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives agent Steven Gerido said Friday that lab tests confirmed an accelerant was used in the fire early Saturday in Murfreesboro.

The fire engulfed the cab of a dump truck, and authorities found fresh fuel pooled under a second dump truck and some fingerprints near the fuel tank.

The site is the location for a new Islamic Center of Murfreesboro, which has drawn increasingly vehement opposition, including protest marches and some vandalism. One opponent said she received death threats after appearing on "The Daily Show."

A $20,000 reward is being offered to anyone with information leading to an arrest.

People calling themselves Muslims who kill aren't Muslims.

People calling themselves Christian who hate all Muslims aren't Christians.

This was news last week wasn't it?? To say that it was arson really isn't news. To say that SOMEONE committed arson IS news.

I guess if you would consider blowing up the WTC you might consider blowing up your own place for a good insurance settlement....

Considering the behavior of government today, I would want a second opinion, before I allowed political BS to influence me.

I am not a Christian. I am not a Muslim. I am not an athiest. I believe in a God of Love who resides in my heart. I wouldn't intentionally hurt a flee. I do not own a gun because I have no use for it.

All organized religions need to take a look at themselves. Each one is stoking the fears of those who believe in their particular approach to God in order to attain some particular kind of an advantage. They need to stop it and they need to stop it now. I have never seen the population as angry as it is as the result of those who practice extreme religion. Back off and take a look at what your religion stands for. Organized religion has been helping people live better lives for a long time. It is important to be tolerant of other peoples views. We should be celebrating our differences and enjoying life as we know it in comfort and without fear. The extremist in organized religion are just plain wrong and they are making life more difficult for all of us.

Well lets see if I can figure this thing out. We had good Christians in Germany killing millions of people. We had Christians that took people from their home land and made slaves of them. They came to America and killed the Native Americans to whom this country really belongs. Oh I could go on and on about these wonderful Christians but I think you guys get the picture.

I have no problem with Christians. But there just aren't very many of them anymore. I know a lot of people who go to church every Sunday, but I don't know any Christians.

Well, gee - where are all of the Jethropolitans slinging their hate for muslims?

Or did they not think anyone would actually take action, despite all of the hate speech? Feeling a bit guilty now, eh?

Oh, heavens no!

The worst of that lot are no more ethical than the Taliban they pretend to hate. They have the same closed-in mindset, the same disregard for life, the same contempt for the vulnerable, the same (or nearly the same) intolerance regarding "other", the same self-withering paranoia and the same slavish adherence to the destructive hierarchal "better'n" principle.

There are many who have no use for Islam; I am one of them but in no way, shape or form do we stand on our soapboxes and demonize a faith we know little or nothing about.

The faith baiters will come; the trolls will infect this thread just as they have so many others. The extreme Christian Right and the extreme Islamonazis....Two peas adjacent to each other in the same pod.
