(AP)  A group of Republican lawmakers is urging California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger to appeal a federal ruling that struck down the state's same-sex marriage ban.

Twenty-seven members of the Assembly's Republican caucus sent Schwarzenegger a letter Tuesday saying it was up to the governor to defend the rights of voters who passed Proposition 8 almost two years ago.

Chief U.S. District Judge Vaughn Walker overturned the voter-approved measure as unconstitutional last month.

The state has until Sept. 11 to challenge Walker's ruling in the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.

Schwarzenegger and Attorney General Jerry Brown, who both refused to support Proposition 8 in Walker's court, have said they do not plan to appeal the ruling.

The coalition that sponsored the ban is appealing the ruling.

People in the majority are getting tired of minorities trampling all over them in the name of "Constitutionality". The People are tired of being trampled on by special interests, and if we can't get the Constitution amended, we'll revolt!

Don't worry, you're already pretty revolting.

Repent.

Luckily your whackjob religious beliefs only apply to those who share them.

Did Jesus teach you to hate?

However offensive the "alternative" lifestyle is to many mambers of the "straight" community, homosexuality is - in and of itself - MORALLY NEUTRAL.
I'll say it again....Homosexuality is NOT wrong. Hell, it isn't even right. It just is.
Not that long ago interracial marriages were illegal in many states and stigmatised in those that were not. We've moved past that (sort of) and it's high time the religious right - Abrahamiac and otherwise - moved past this.

I don't understand why some of us find members of our own gender attractive either, and I certainly do not. But there are 8 to 12 percent (depending on who you reference) who do. There is no reason to deny these folks the same full validation of their values the rest of us have as a birthright. That means, among other things, the gay community has the same right to marry (and divorce, if it comes to that) whomever they choose as everyone else.

Not that long ago, inter-racial marriages were illegal in many states ( and not just limited to the deep South) and stigmatised in those that were not. We've moved past that (sort of) and it's high time the religious right - Abrahamiac and otherwise - moved past this.

But there are as many as 8 to 12 percent (depending on who you reference) who do and there is no reason why these folks are less worthy of the full validation that the rest of us have as a birthright. Why is it that Republicans are always against rights and ask the state to limit personal freedom? I think that the right of Republicans to vote should be revoked...

The Religious Right claims to want small government, yet oddly wants to interfere in peoples' private lives.

Mind your own damn business.

You're the one who says you find "it" grotesque. What other "it" were you referring to, then?

No, jmichael, I'm not.

So will you please answer how you consider yourself a Christian while being so publicly hateful of gays?
by jmichael07 September 4, 2010 12:08 AM EDT
do you allow for any difference of opinion that you do not mischaracterize as hateful? I don't consider gays generally hateful to me. But you're a piece of work I see. Smearing me for 'hate' like you don't hate me yourself for telling you the truth. It hurts bad, huh? Poor thing you... I don't hate you. Cry on my shoulder ;D hehe
