Lindsay Lohan Lashes Out at Her Father

(CBS)  Lindsay Lohan is blaming her father for her troubles.

In a revealing interview with Vanity Fair magazine, the actress, who just finished shortened stints in jail and rehab, also discusses her floundering career, and her alleged battle with alcohol and pills.

Lohan comes out swinging in the exclusive interview, given just days before she went to jail on July 20, reports CBS News Correspondent Terrell Brown.

In it, she points directly to her father, Michael Lohan, as a prime reason her life and career have hit potholes, saying, "I think my biggest focus for myself is learning how to continue to get through the trauma that my father has caused in my life."

While she denies being addicted to alcohol or prescription drug addiction, she does admit to experimenting with drugs out of youthful curiosity. " I was 18, 19 - with a ton of money and no one really here to tell me that I couldn't do certain things … And I see where that's gotten me now, and I don't like it," Lohan says.

She was visibly upset in court before her sentencing for violating the probation from a 2007 drugs case, and tells Vanity Fair the most "heartbreaking" thing was to see her sister cry and, "The worst part of it is, you turn around and you see your dad crying and normally, you'd be, like, happy that your father's there. But then, he has to go and do an interview right after."

And a short time later, Brown points out, Michael Lohan did just that, insisting to "Early Show" co-anchor Harry Smith his daughter is in great danger. "Lindsay has an extreme problem," he said in the Aug. 13 interview. "She needs help, and if she's not taken off all of the drugs, and if she doesn't have therapy, family therapy as well as individual, I feel it's just a Band Aid."

Celebrity website TMZ.com has reported that Lindsay Lohan might not have been an addict at all, and may have been misdiagnosed as one.

Her career has been on hold since her personal downward spiral began, Brown observes, but Lohan tells Vanity Fair she has no doubt she'll be back. "I don't care what anyone says," she says. "I know that I'm a damn(ed) good actress. And I know that, in my past, I was young and irresponsible.. But that's what growing up is. You learn from your mistakes."

Her most recent mistake, Brown points out -- being stopped in Beverly Hills this past weekend for running a stop sign. And, Brown notes, as has been true for much of her young life, she was let off --- with a simple warning.

That's right Lindsay, it's all his fault.

It's all his fault that you're as stupid as you are.

You've never made even one single choice of your own.

They were all his.

What a shame he even has to waste his time with you.

You don't deserve a father that actually cares for you enough to suggest things that might actually help you.

Maybe her career will flourish IF she gets her behind straightened out. There are probably plenty of actresses out that that are sober and stable.

She is just in her twentys but she is rapidly starting to look worn and torn. She had better slow down and take better care of herself because by the time she turns thirty five, she is going to be unreconizable.
