Obama Not Worried About Muslim Rumors

(AP)  President Barack Obama said Sunday he isn't worried about a recent poll showing that nearly one-fifth of Americans believe he is a Muslim.

"The facts are the facts," said Mr. Obama, who is a Christian. In an interview broadcast on "NBC Nightly News," the president blamed the confusion over his religious beliefs on "a network of misinformation that in a new media era can get churned out there constantly."

A poll released earlier this month by the nonpartisan Pew Research Center showed that 18 percent of people believe Mr. Obama is Muslim. That was up from 11 percent who said so in March 2009. Just 34 percent said Mr. Obama is Christian, down from 48 percent who said so last year.

"I'm not gonna be worrying too much about whatever rumors are floating on out there," Mr. Obama said Sunday. "If I spend all my time chasing after that, then I wouldn't get much done."

GOP Not Condemning "Obama Is a Muslim" Myth

Asked about persistent accusations that he wasn't born in the United States, the president responded, "I can't spend all my time with my birth certificate plastered on my forehead."

NBC anchorman Brian Williams also asked Mr. Obama about conservative commentator Glenn Beck's rally on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial on Saturday. While he didn't watch the event, Mr. Obama said, "I think that Mr. Beck and the rest of those folks were exercising their rights under our Constitution exactly as they should."

The president acknowledged the ralliers' concerns about the economy and terrorism and observed, "Given the fact that, you know, in none of these situations are you gonna fix things overnight, it's not surprising that somebody like a Mr. Beck is able to stir up a certain portion of the country."

Mr. Obama added: "I have no doubt that we are gonna rebound and rebound strong. But when you're in the middle of it, and if you don't have a job right now, it's a tough, tough situation."

I would recommend reading the Bible to see what evangelical ministers should be saying. That will help you distinguish between what two billion people say they believe and what actually transpired. The 66 books are not quite as long as some Stephen King novels yet some people just refuse to read but do not refuse to argue about it. Including some pastors (: Obama has had choices -- he reads fast and remembers well. He's chosen to call himself a Christian. No Muslim would do that publicly and many countries would kill him if he did. This country is founded on the fact that all of us are created equal endowed by our Creator with certain unalienable rights. Read the Bible, read Obama's book, read Bush's books and Beck's, etc. Make good informed judgments and don't let others think for you. If the whole nation does this we will regain our superiority and reach our destiny.

After Obama stated he wasn't worried about the muslim rumors, did he state that he is a Christian, and that Jesus Christ is his Lord and Savior? I bet not....because a muslim would not say that, but a Christian would say these words should he be made to defend himself. Obama is a muslim people.....wake up to the facts.

I bet not....because a muslim would not say that...

For about the thousandth time, if you guys keep fomenting this stupid logic...

Won't you try and help examine the vicious rumor that Glenn Beck raped and murdered a young girl in 1990? I don't claim to know the truth -- only that the rumor floating around saying that Glenn Beck raped and murdered a young girl in 1990 should be discussed. So we should do our part to try and help get to the bottom of this.

Why won't Glenn Beck deny these allegations? I'm not accusing Glenn Beck of raping and murdering a young girl in 1990 - in fact, I think he may not have! But I can't help but wonder since he has failed to deny these horrible allegations. Why won't he deny that he raped and killed a young girl in 1990?

the president responded, "I can't spend all my time with my birth certificate plastered on my forehead." That from article.

Now there is no more mystery as to where the birth certificate is. I guess I missed the forehead posting.

Guess the USS Cole bomber is not worried either since the President halted his prosecution.

"'Let's make clear what the facts are: I am a Christian. I have been sworn in with a Bible. I pledge allegiance [to the American flag] and lead the pledge of allegiance sometimes in the United States Senate when I'm presiding.'

"Mr Obama is a member of Chicago's Trinity United Church of Christ and is an actively practising Christian. But opponents, particularly on the Republican side, delight in reminding people that his middle name is Hussein, taken from his father, a Harvard educated economist who left the family when Mr Obama was two."

I can't understand why some many people are concerned & commenting on whether President Obama is a Muslim or not. He goes to a church & to be honest with you it is no one's business what religion he is. He took the Oath of Office & it said under God - great he's the president of the United States of American & can be any religion he wants - that's what America stands for - freedom to choose.

But the right-wingers don't support what America stands for. They want a theocracy.

There's a black man in the white house--A BLACK MAN IN THE WHITE HOUSE!!!

But is he a black Muslim man in the White House? Instead of spending $15 for a copy of his birth certificate to be shown as any sane person would do, Obama and his handlers have spent over $1 million on fighting court challenges.

Obama may not care what I think about his games but he will find I will not vote for any of his supporters (i.e. Democrat Party). Any Repubs who want to cross over will likewise be deleted from any ballot I cast.

And the Drilling Moratorium? That is a liberal game that will cost him many more votes. Does he care what we think? Obviously, not yet but he will when a hostile Congress starts the investiations. Who knows what they will find under the rocks of Obama's HOPE AND CHANGE.

Hope and Change smells worse every day.

We should be concerned that 20% of our citizens, who may vote, are so weak minded/deluded within themselves, that they cannot brush off what the fear- mongers feed them and continue barking about nonsense... that has been obviously cleared up long ago. As America continues to grow and change, we must rely on the rest of America, who will not be easily misled/distracted, to keep us moving ahead as a beacon of hope for the rest of the world.
