"Spiderman" Climbs 57-Story Building Bare-Handed

A French skyscraper climber nicknamed "Spiderman" was arrested Monday after scaling a 57-story building in Sydney with his bare hands.

Alain Robert, known for climbing some of the world's tallest and best-known buildings without ropes or other equipment, was arrested at the top of the Lumiere building downtown.

He climbed the building in about 20 minutes, as dozens of people watched from below.

"I'm sad he's been arrested, but hopefully he'll get out soon and we can have some champagne," said his agent, Max Markson.

He has not yet been charged. Last year, Robert was fined 750 Australian dollars ($676) for climbing the 41-story Royal Bank of Scotland building in Sydney.

Many of his past climbs have resulted in arrests and fines.

The 48-year-old has climbed more than 70 skyscrapers around the world, including the Empire State Building, the Sears Tower and the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur, according to his website.

The next time he is seen climbing tape off the fall area arrest the man and fine so heavy and charge him for manpower time equipment and tresspassing that he will not ever consider doing this again. I want to know where does a building climber get his funds to fly around the globe and climb buildings. If this done by donation then the donators should be charged with conspiring to endanger the public welfare. If he fell on one my people and survived to make it to the hospital? I promise you this he would never leave the hospital alive unless they locked me up to protect him. I have worked high steel and this man is a stupid risk.

I suspect many of the posters would feel differently if (when?) is slips, then falls on them or on one of their loved ones. He's not just putting himself at risk, but everyone underneath him. He's a danger to society and should be treated as such.

It is just a matter of time, until he becomes a rather messy spot on the pavement.
