(CBS/AP)  Tiger Woods was poised to take control at the Barclays. Instead, he went the other way.

Woods missed a 20-inch putt for one of his four bogeys over the final eight holes Friday at Ridgewood Country Club, giving him a 2-over 73. He's still among the contenders in the first FedEx Cup playoff event, although he'll have plenty of ground to make up.

Kevin Streelman, who narrowly missed out on a playoff at Ridgewood two years ago, shot a 63 and was the clubhouse leader at 7-under 135. John Senden of Australia was at 9 under with the back nine still to play.

Woods at least will keep his No. 1 ranking for another week. Phil Mickelson missed the cut, then left The Barclays through a side door without speaking to reporters.

I hope he struggles and struggles and never recovers. I hope he's so consumed with guilt over what he's done to his wife and children that every swing of his club he can't concentrate because he's thinking of what he's done to them. He brought me back to watching golf again just like Dale Earnhardt brought me back to watching NASCAR. Dale's death caused me to lose interest in NASCAR, and Tigers fall from grace by cheating on his entire family and costing his children a permanent live at home father has stopped me from watching golf. He'll never gain my respect back nor will I ever watch another tournament he's in again, nor support a sponsor he represents again. Let's see which white blonde he chooses now that Elin is out of the picture, he sure doesn't seem to like ladies of his own race.

I didn't think that Tiger's game was going to miraculously ressurect itself simply because his divorce is behind him. During this year, he has fired one coach, hired a temporary one and changed his swing several times.

This situation reminds me of a MLB hitter who is in a batting slump and who changes his swing several times to try to break out of it. He may have a good day or two, but then winds up being inconsistent...

...and that's where Tiger is right now.
