Fried Food Finalists at Texas State Fair
Fried food fans will have to show ID for some choices at this year's State Fair of Texas.
Eight finalists vying for the Big Tex Choice Awards, include two alcohol-laced fried goodies.
Menu items submitted from concessionaires includes fried frozen margaritas, fried s'mores Pop-Tarts, fried club salads, fried chocolate, fried lemonade, fried Texas caviar (black-eyed peas) and fried Frito pie.
Fair officials say fried beer and fried frozen margarita will require identification to purchase since both items have alcohol in the ingredients.
The State Fair of Texas runs for 24 days, from September 24 through October 17.
Fried beer finalist, Mark Zable, said his recipe is a trade secret and that he's "not going to share it." He told CBS' KTVT's Sandie Newton that he's patented the process and he's trademarked the name "fried beer."
