Alvin Greene Indicted for Promoting Porn

By
CBSNews
(AP)  Longshot Senate candidate Alvin Greene was indicted Friday on two charges, including a felony charge of showing pornography to a South Carolina college student.

A Richland County grand jury indicted Green for disseminating, procuring or promoting obscenity — a felony — as well as a misdemeanor charge of communicating obscene materials to a person without consent.

Greene, who surprised the Democratic party establishment with his primary victory, was arrested in November after authorities said he approached a student in a University of South Carolina computer lab, showed her obscene photos online, then talked about going to her dorm room.

Greene declined comment at his home. He has also refused to talk about the charge in interviews.

Greene, 32, won a shocking victory in the June 8 Democratic primary. The unemployed military veteran handily defeated Vic Rawl, a former lawmaker and judge who had been considered an easy win by the party establishment.

Up to that point, Greene had done no visible campaigning and had no website, fundraising or staff.

In the months since, Greene has given a series of awkward interviews to reporters clamoring for more information on the unemployed man who lives in Manning with his ailing father. In one interview, he suggested that the state's economy could be improved by making and selling action figures depicting him in his uniform.

Last month, Greene gave his first public speech, a 6 1/2-minute recitation of his previous comments and commitment to jobs and education. He now has a website and says he has raised less than $1,000.

He faces Republican U.S. Sen. Jim DeMint in the fall. The popular incumbent has raised more than $3 million.

This whole porn rap is ridicules. In what hick town state is it still illegal to view the naked body by adults. They didn't say it was child porn so whats the problem. Porn is everywhere on the net and if it's still illegal someplace in Hickville USA then we need to change those stupid outdated laws.

For all of you tea party people who think some outsider stands a chance in politics, heres your proof they dont. The opposition is very polished and will easily toss muck at your candidate discrediting them.

This is the way it stacks up as far as I can see.
DeMint is a puppet for the Good Old Boys but has done nothing of value and should be replaced. However the GOB still need him so he can cover up for their criminal activities and assist with their anti American ideals.
There is no real two party system in SC. It is only the illusion of a two party system so the SC Dems do not scream foul when the vote is rigged.
The vote can be rigged easily because SC knowingly uses voting machines that can easily be manipulated so the vote can easily be rigged at every level of the collection and counting process.
Greene was probably manipulated to spend his life savings on the filing fee to have a stooge in place that could not win. Even if he managed to win they could manipulate him so there is no risk.
The courts are corrupt so that is not a viable path to resolution.

The bottom line is that corruption and the protection of criminal enterprise marches on as usual in SC. It has never been otherwise and a rigged election is par for the course so it is no surprise. DeMint will get to go back to DC and represent his criminal backers.

So in every state that voting machines are used the outcome can be rigged. That means the dems aren't really in power legally since voting machines were used in states and they were rigged, the last two elections. You need a tinfoil hat.

I wonder if the charges are legitimate.

So do I. The "victim" was a college student? So, probably at least 18 years old. Where is the crime?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The victim was someone who did not want to see pornography and did not ask to be shown pornography. This is the equivalent, AttyFAM, of you exposing your "privates" to a stranger "over 18" in a public place and then asking "where is the crime?". As to Void-Masters' question about the charges being legitimate, well, in the Orwellian sense they are, irregardless of the facts. The charges were brought by a prosecuting attorney and by definition they are "legitimate". Yeah, I know, I'm splitting hairs here, but perhaps the better question would have been "Are these charges based on facts or are these charges an attempt to discredit the candidate?". Splitting hairs & making camels do back-flips through the eye of a needle are what lawyers do for a living, and this candidate definitely needs a lawyer. Maybe the ACLU would be interested.

He is a plant of the GOP. They wanted him to cripple the Dems that were running against them in South Carolina.... well that one will blow up in their faces

The DNC is doing this to him so they can get the candidate that they backed on the ballot.

Both parties want who THEY want in office--not who WE want--keep the greed flowing and the lobbyists going.

None of these people live like the "average" citizen. When we lose a job the pay goes with it, not out illustrious politicians--they get the same pay and benefits (better than ours) for the rest of their lives!

All this needs to change and we need new faces (and term limits) in Washington who will work for the benefit of Americans.

Until you get the system changed I think maybe that being a "retired" politician is a great deal. So, in the spirit of looking after the future (mine) and being suddenly seized by an uncontrollable urge to hold public office (with outstanding pay & great benefits) to help shape the future (continue voting pay raises & increased retirement benefits for "retired" politicians) of this Great Nation into something that we all can be proud of (fade in: very low volume, almost subliminal: Battle Hymn of the Republic)and secure the blessings of Peace, Prosperity, and Productive lives for ourselves (remember the pay, benefits, & retirement I'm shooting(there, that word should be good for the NRA vote)for), our children, and our children's children. (rising volume: Battle Hymn of the Republic. Background: Fade in: Flag raising on Iwo Jima) I do hereby declare my candidacy for the office of (research needed here). Bottom line, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em. :)

Are you sure the dem party isn't doing it since he beat out their favorite. Convict him before the election and Vic Rawl slides in on the ballot.

"I'd be interested in seeing how this idiot won the Democratic primary in SC. My guess: The Republicans rigged the ballot. "

No, the fact is people, and the media, don't want to acknowledge the real reason he was elected, because it's not politically correct. I grew up In South Carolina ( I currently live on the West Coast ) And one thing that has remained constant, is racism. And it's NOT White on Black. Like a previous comment stated, SC has a large Black population. and since i can remember, they have been told and baited by the Al Sharpton's, Jesse Jackson's and the Democrat Party/Liberals, That White people, and Republicans are the crux of all their problems. That the year is still 1955, and everywhere in the south is basically backwoods Miss. run by Good Ole Boys. That They will never succeed, It's rigged, ect..ect.. and because of this there is a growing animosity, to where Black people in the South ( and other heavily populated Black cities like Detroit and DC...) will vote for the Black Candidate Regardless of qualification, Ethics, and in this case Intelligence. Even the great Bill Clinton alluded to this during the Democrat Primary. 2 years ago,.. ( " well even Jesse Jackson carried South Carolina ). And to vote solely bc the person looks like you,..or in your mind is "down with the struggle" is racist and bigoted,..and ignorant for that matter. So, no,..this was not some elaborate scheme by republicans,..The Democrats, and the Black population of the South own this one. to quote Reverend Wright,.." your chickens have come home to roost.."
This will continually be the case until Black people around the country stop depending on these people, buying into their BS, and stop being told, and seeing themselves as victims.

HOWEVER, if the pornography involves

pornography is a scandal and should be demonized

You name-calling hate-speech filled Repub Repuke Repigs
