Lindsay Lohan to Leave Rehab Early?

By
CBSNews
(CBS)  Last month, Lindsay Lohan was sent to jail for 90 days and got out after less than two weeks.

Now, the prosecutor in her case told RadarOnline.com that health professionals at UCLA Medical Center may recommend that Lohan be released early from her 90-day court-ordered rehab. No date has been set.

In an exclusive interview, Lohan's father, Michael Lohan, said on "The Early Show," it might be a mistake to let her leave rehab early.

"This is not hardball. What the judge did is proper," Michael said. "Hardball is 30 years for DUI. Lindsay has an extreme problem. She needs help. If she's not taken off all of the drugs, if she doesn't have therapy, family therapy as well as individual, I feel it's just a Band-Aid and it's not going to get any better."

He continued, "She needs to go through this period of reinventing herself and getting off the prescription drugs. It's not that easy."

Michael said he fears his daughter will go right back to the same behavior.

He said, "I heard a publicist say Lindsay needs to take a step back and get out of the limelight. I agree with her 100 percent. It's not about getting back, jumping in feet-first and, you know, just trying to get back -- pick up where she stopped. She needs her life back."

Michael Lohan said all members of the family need to come together and accept responsibility for their actions.

"We have to mend fences," he said. "This is not something we can just overlook anymore."

"Early Show" co-anchor Harry Smith pointed out that Dina Lohan, Michael's ex-wife, went on NBC's "Today" show and "was not in a very much fence-mending mood."

Smith told Michael, "She said you were not a fit father and had not been a father. I mean, I know you've been trying to reach out to her and to your daughter and they don't sound like they're ready to open the door to you."

Michael replied, "The funny part is, on July 4th, Dina was my best friend. Everything was great before. I don't understand how she comes out with some of these things she says. But that's on her. That's not on me. This is about our daughter. It's not about being part of her career. It's about being parents."

He added, "Dina should be out of her career and I shouldn't be any part of her career. I never was. I never was a manager or anything. I tried to do my best as a father. I made my mistakes. I wound up in jail. Lindsay certainly paid a price for that. ... But it's time to put everything aside. I thought Dina did that. But, obviously, you know, we have some work to do ourselves on this."

Smith asked Michael about the possibility that Lindsay would move back east -- away from the culture in Southern California. Would that be better for Lindsay?

Michael said, "Let's take a step back and look at look. Lindsay got therapy, stepped out of the limelight, and she got involved with the same people again when she got out a short period of time after and the same thing started to happen."

He said, "The lawyers, the judges, everyone said she should have got family therapy and all three of us should sit down, but Lindsay and I sat down and Dina didn't want to join us. I think that was a big part of her downfall. A lot has to be able to do with sitting here with you and me and a psychologist or counselor saying, 'This is what we did.' I heard Lindsay say that in our discussions and I certainly did as well. But some people can't. That's a real problem."

Needs to return Home, Tabloids want another MJ to'Mourn'--

I believe LiLo is a good person - it's the tabloids that cause hate for $$$. Her circumstances are a nightmare. She had always said she had trouble being so far from home - then she sort of gave up. LA is very bad for her- she cant sit on a toilet without first checking for poparazzi in scuba gear looking for a candid shot.

Her parents help is negated by their domestic squabbling. Her lawyer did show she had substantially satisfied 3 years Probation and ALL drug tests were passed (TMZ made each an event- praying she would fail so they could profit from it)!

All you have to do is look at the police episode with Lindsay's mother at the ice cream store 2 months ago to understand the "enabling" atmosphere in her mother's house. The attitude that, because Lindsay is a celebrity, therefore her mother and sister are entitled to the same perks and benefits as Lindsay is apparent. I believe the best thing Lindsay can do is put distance (physical) between her and all of her circle of "yes" people.

I never thought I would be saying this, but I actually agree with what Michael Lohan said in this article. He actually made sense when he said that both he and Dina Lohan need to be out of Lindsay's professional life and that she did not need to come out of rehab early. They all...especially Lindsay...need to just step back, get out of the Hollywood fast lane, move away from Hollywood and start living some semblance of a normal life. Watching Dina Lohan in action is like watching an Alfred Hitchcock movie where a train wreck is fixing to happen and there is nothing you can do to stop it. Dina Lohan is even more addicted to the Hollywood limelight than Lindsay is.

Everyone knows that this is going to end badly for Lindsay, but there seems to be no way to get through to either her or her Mother. Hollywood has consumed many a wannabe star and starlet and will keep on rolling along after it has consumed Lindsay like she never existed in the first place...unless, of course, it can make more money after she's dead by selling Lindsay Lohan memorabillia.

Lohan is one example of the ridiculous culture surrounding celebrities these days. Michael Jackson wasn't much different, the same for Elvis Presley. Their "entourage" of underlings know which side their bread is buttered on. Whatever the boss wants, the boss gets. The celebrity, I'm sure, feels completely entitled to practice their bizarre, self-destructive behavior, "I earned it", "I'm special", "I'm talented", "I'm a star", blah blah blah. The tabloid press eats it up, and apparently there is a huge audience out there that keeps the tabloid press well oiled. Sad sign of a sick society.

Apparently she left because she had an overwhelming case of the munchies.

Not to worry she will be back after she OD's.

Who really cares what this little skank does? She obviously doesn't want to be clean and sober so let her do her little self destruction dance.

The judge has already said she has to stay in rehab the whole time and not get out early....so she should have to stay in.
In the long run it probably doesn't matter one bit....When she does get out she will go right back to her distructive behavior, and will be dead in 5 or 10 years...then the family can make loads of money off of her again.

Enough about this worthless skank. You media types slobber like Pavlovian dogs in her presence. If this had of been a non hollywood person, they'd still be in jail and there wouldn't be a story. But with this trash you fawn her like the Remora you are. Pathetic.

Seeing Dina Lohan on Today tells you everything you need to know to understand Lindsay Lohan. She has raised her daughter with no guidelines, self control or discipline and we have seen the result. Miss Lohan should have stayed the entire 90 days in jail for some kind of structure and should stay in rehab for the entire time prescribed. Lindsay's mother is trying to live through her daughter instead of being a mother.

You are so right about Dina Lohan. Wouldn't answer a question directly and blamed everything on her ex or the media. If Lindsay Lohan listens to her mother she will never get the help she needs. Getting out of rehab early will only send the message to her that she doesn't have a problem and thumbing her nose at the judicial system works; there are no consequences for your actions. If you or I did that we'd be in jail and serve the entire time. Also, anyone who has dealt with addicts knows that when they get caught the do whatever it takes to make themselves look "well" to get back out there and use. That's what her mother is seeing not true change.
