Kerry Says He Mishandled Furor Over Yacht Taxes

(AP)  Sen. John Kerry says he always intended to pay taxes in Massachusetts on his $7 million yacht but concedes he mishandled the public furor over his decision to dock the vessel in tax-free Rhode Island.

Kerry tells The Boston Globe that he doesn't believe he dealt with the issue quickly enough or effectively enough. He added that he did nothing legally wrong.

The Democrat moved to end the controversy this week by saying he would write Massachusetts a check for about $500,000, whether he owed the money or not. He told The Associated Press that he and his wife "have always complied with tax laws."

The 2004 Democratic presidential nominee had been dogged by charges of tax evasion since the Boston Herald first reported his decision to dock the yacht in Rhode Island.

Kerry's showed his real self by trying to cheat his home state on taxes. Yet this guy has no problem spending our money like there is no tomorrow. He is such a hypocrite. I do not know how he can even keep a straight face when he tells his lies.

Woulda, Coulda, Shoulda... he is a prime example of taxing business away from an area. He is all about taxing the crap out of us, but when it comes to his own money....nope. When you get down to it, most people who promote higher taxes are not interested in payer more taxes themselves. High taxes drive away business, and the entire nation needs healthy businesses and more employment. Do you think the leadership in Washington will reduce taxes to aid in economic recovery? Don't bet on it. Washington is all about sucking money from the economy into Washington. I hope the days are numbered for these arrogant hypocrites to be in power.

Ethics is what you do even when nobody's watching - which is something that you are completely devoid of, John Kerry.

Another ethics-challenged Democrat begging to be voted out of office.
