Chelsea Clinton Wedding Likely to Limit Airspace

(CBS)  Preparations for Chelsea Clinton's wedding in Rhinebeck, N.Y. are in full swing. Aerial photos obtained by CBS News show a massive, glass-front tent now up at the site of the big event: the posh, 50-acre estate known as Astor Courts.

Additionally, CBS News correspondent Elaine Quijano reported Thursday the Federal Aviation Administration has put into place a ban on flights around Astor Courts below 2,000 feet, which goes into effect from 3:00 Saturday afternoon through Sunday morning at 3:30 a.m.

But, Quijano said, it looks as if the celebrations have already begun in Rhinebeck, with locals popping champagne in the streets -- even though the the nuptials are still two days away.

The father of the groom -- former congressman Edward Mezvinsky -- told "Inside Edition" he's ready to be a father-in-law.

He said, "I'm a proud papa...the family's excited...these are two wonderful human beings that have sensitivity about life and have a warm regard for family and that's what it's really all about."

But Quijano said we now know one person who didn't get an invite: President Obama, the boss of the mother-of-the-bride. Obama told ABC's "The View": "I was not invited to the wedding because I think Hillary and Bill, properly, want to keep this thing for Chelsea and her soon-to-be husband."

As the crush of media moves in to Rhinebeck, hotels have booked up, so local residents, looking to cash in, are renting their homes.

The area, Quijano said, has become a liberal-leaning celebrity hangout in recent years with Uma Thurman, Sarah Jessica Parker and Drew Barrymore have all been spotted in Rhinebeck.

But the celebrity grabbing all the attention this weekend is Chelsea Clinton.

A dress shop owner told CBS News, "She was here a few moths ago. She actually came in here and bought a pair of jeans and dress and she was as sweet as can be!"

But even if they don't catch a glimpse of the bride, the residents of Rhinebeck, Quijano said, are already enjoying the party.

Who said anything about using your taxes? And they limit airspace over a lot of events, including marrages. It's not for the kids but for all the important that will be there. Dummies !!

You are RIGHT ON linc6. What happened to the intelligent people who used to comment on this site. Most of these comments sound like envious green eyed unhappy people. Too bad.

Oh for heaven's sakes, it's not like Chelsea is a national treasure - why the hell should taxpayers foot the bill to restrict airspace for her wedding? Let her folks pay for it - it's not like they don't have the money.

Local areas of the country should never be impinged upon
by grants of special privilege based upon so-called
celebrity status, regardless of political affiliation!
Especially children of these people who have done
NOTHING to earn any such privilege other than to be
born into the family!

You are an IDIOT! It has nothing to do with privilege. If you have the money you too can do almost anything you wish. They have the money so good for them.

How nice! Limiting the air space over the site of the event?!
That's certainly not a routine procedure! How many other couples
about to be married, have gotten 'air control' above their wedding!?
One more vivid example how 'special privilege' is applied
in the U.S.A.!

How many other couples about to be married are the offspring of a former President and the current Secretary of State?

Your complaints are rediculous.

OH! And, on THAT basis EXTRAORDINARY privileges should
be granted to THEM on request?!! Your comment is asinine!

Sounds like a lot of sour grapes here. It's their money, Chelsea's wedding, and people of privilege go out all. It's really nobody's business; it's just a feeding frenzy for the media.

And all cost involved including people to monitor those limits should be paid for by the Clinton's and not the tax payers. I wonder if the FAA would do the same for me, for if not, they are violating the law itself, its called discrimination.

You have lots of helicoptors following you around Doc?? Or maybe repeated assasination attempts. Seems a bit silly to have the cuurent Secretary of State and a former President have such an event without proper protection.

these poor democrats. I thought republicans were the rich and didn't care about the have nots. Where does all this money come from, when they got out of office they were glad handing people to get money to pay millions in lawer fees, now they are spending millions on the daughters fairy tale wedding. I would have thought the dems knowing of all the injustices in the US and all the starving people with cell phones and TVs could use that money to up grade their cell phones.

Well its no secret that both Clintons have enourmous speaking fees as well as lucrative book deals. More to the point though is what business is it of yours where the money came from???? When you go out and buy something do you have to explain to the media where you got the money for it?

Among the invited guests; who's guests are they anyway? The Clinton's (Bill and Hil) OR Chelsea's??? Barbra Steisand, Oprah Winfrey, Steven Spielberg, President Obama (will not attend), etc. you get the picture.
