(CBS)  What kind of person wins Chelsea Clinton's heart and the approval of her parents? By all accounts -- an impressive one.

Clinton-Mezvinsky Wedding Details Emerge

His name may not ring a bell, but Chelsea Clinton's fiance, 32-year-old Marc Mezvinsky, is about to become the man of the hour.

Mezvinsky and Clinton first met as teenagers at a leadership retreat in 1993. They both attended Stanford University.

He now works as an investment banker at a hedge fund and lives in a $4 million 3-bedroom apartment on New York's Fifth Avenue.

But his family has faced some adversity. Mezvinsky's father, former Iowa congressman Ed Mezvinksy, pleaded guilty to fraud and served five years in prison. He was released in 2008.

Observers say as children of politicians who faced public turmoil. Both Mezvinsky and Clinton understand how harsh a negative spotlight can be.

Sally Quinn, of the Washington Post, told CBS News, "Both of them understand each other in a way that no one else can. They understand what the other one has been through."

Now, their wedding is the talk of the town in upstate Rhinebeck, N.Y., where, despite no official confirmation that the wedding will happen at the nearby Astor Courts, the Rhinebeck town board voted to approve extra money for more police on Saturday.

A town board member said at the meeting, "I'd like to allocate $2,500 for the possible event."

CBS News correspondent Elaine Quijano reported celebrity guests are reportedly staying at an historic inn in downtown Rhinebeck.

She said she's been told the owners have signed a confidentiality agreement.
But one person will definitely not be attending, Quijano said.

The White House said yesterday President Obama will not be in Rhinebeck.

What about Bush's daughters or Palin's daughter(s)? Would the LIBERAL media give them the same respect ? Would Letterman make sexual jokes about Chelsea ?

$3 million for a wedding. Typical limousine liberals. How many jobless and homeless Americans could that money feed.

Being a member of the correct caste and tribe with appropriate connections leads to a $4 million dollar 5th Ave apartment at age 32yo. In a sense it is the ultimate racism, and a racism that breeds favoritism and success among its own, instead of breeding success among all.

Wasn't so much that she actually voted for the increase people were more upset that she campaigned and won election on the promise that she was going to vote against the increase. Voting her out was our way of reminding her that she works for us. Her name's still mud in the Montgomery County area to this day.

CBS loves to heap attention and praise the Leftist ruling class elitists - and their spawn.

What does your comment have to do with this young woman, who we have all watched grow since she was pre-teen? Regardless of my political affiliations, regardless of how I feel about which presidents, this is about Chelsea. By the way,I have to laught at anyone calling these people "ruling class elitists". Sort of contridicts the "leftist" part, don't ya' think. If you don't like the story....don't read it.

Chelsea is a beautiful woman and a beautiful person and I hope she and Marc have the perfect wedding they desire.
I'm wondering what will be on the menu. Chelsea is a vegetarian and Marc's family may be Kosher, so it will be interesting to see what they choose. :)
Best wishes to the happy couple.

I am not an avid fan of either Clinton parent. That being said, I think as mean as everyone was to this child when she was living at the White House we should give this girl her day without making a buch of negative comments. Her parents are rich. If the leaked info is correct and her wedding is going to cost $2 Million, so be it. I'm dirt poor and Clinton did nothing to help that. But this is his only daughter and she deserves to have a special day as much as the rest of us. There are more newsworthy things to cover, but there were back when she was a 12 year old with braces and people calling her ugly. Let her have a beautiful day. She deserves it like all girls! I'm not pro Clinton, but I am PRO GIRL!!!
