60 Minutes/Vanity Fair Poll: August Edition

As the dog days of summer reach their zenith, the 60 Minutes/Vanity Fair Poll comes to the rescue with some cool questions.

As Americans anxiously await better times on several fronts, the poll provides an opportunity to take the nation's pulse on a wide variety of topics, issues and ideas.

The results please:

• Do you believe or not believe BP when they say their relief wells will stop the oil leak in August?

Finally, a question that Americans of all persuasions can agree on. Only 24 percent think that BP will stop the leak by August.

Two-thirds of Americans regardless of their political affiliation don't believe they will.

It would be nice if we could get a similar consensus not just on disasters, but on many other issues currently challenging the country.

Maybe you should tell your daughter in law to grow up and stop acting like a spoilt brat. To waste that much energy crying over a dress...you're kidding right??

You would save heartbreak for hundreds, maybe thousands of brides if you could investigate David's Bridal and their invisible customer service people, the bridal gown horror stories...such as shoddy alterations that destroy the bridal gown just before the wedding, the rude employees and the horrendous company policies, like store credit for cancelling a newly ordered wedding gown, Google "Davids bridal complaints" and the story almost writes itself. It's just not right that a company can treat people so badly and continue to make a profit. They are in a business that caters to a little girls dream of being a beautiful bride. Every bride-to-be imagines finding "the one", even if she can only afford $300 or $400. The heavy-handed alteration fees are a crime, especially for the unskilled labor, in some cases. My own dress alterations were more expensive than my dress.
My daugher-in-law-to-be watched her dress basically detroyed before her eyes as appointment after appointment, she watched the seamstresses try to correct errors they made on the previous alteration. What company hires people capable of destroying 'the dream', They know what's going on in their company and they just don't care. My daughter-in-law-to-be has cried A LOT in the last couple of weeks and moreso lately as her wedding comes closer and her second dress still is not ready. I considered David's Bridal the "Walmart of Weddings" but then I realized that this was a real insult to Walmart. They do have decent customer service.
