Clinton-Mezvinsky Wedding Details Emerge

(CBS)  What some are calling the wedding of the year -- the nuptials between Chelsea Clinton and Marc Mezvinsky -- is now just days away. But those involved with the event are reportedly prohibited from divulging anything.

CBS News correspondent Elaine Quijano traveled to Rhinebeck, N.Y., and uncovered some interesting details.

In the one-stoplight village of Rhinebeck, Quijano said, all signs indicate Chelsea Clinton will marry fiance Marc Mezvinsky on Saturday. Mayor Jim Reardon believes the Rhinebeck rumor is true.

Reardon told CBS News he thinks the town is "going to look like a circus."

A guessing game is now on, Quijano said, for who's been asked to come to the wedding of the year.

Jim Langan, executive editor of the Hudson Valley News, said, "The main parlor game at the moment is, is President Obama coming, is President Obama not coming?"

Other big names on a guest list as long as 400 may include movie mogul Steven Spielberg, former British prime minister Tony Blair, and Barbra Streisand. Those initial invites were vague on details, only that the nuptials will be held somewhere within a two and a half hour radius of Manhattan. The most likely venue -- the $12 million estate, Astor Courts.

And the cost? Quijano said it could be in the neighborhood of $2 million. Flowers alone could run a quarter million. The catering could reach $750,000. High profile wedding planner Claudia Hanlin told CBS News she knows several vendors hired for the event. She says the bill could go even higher.

Gift bags will reportedly include wine bearing the Clinton name -- no relation -- from a local vineyard.

Hanlin, partner and founder of The Wedding Library, said, "When you add up all the different pieces in a very high-profile wedding, costs add up very quickly."

Hey, didn't one of the Prez. Bush's daughter recently got married, while he still was in office?? ---I don't remember the media making such a big deal of it. Interesting, this is a daughter of a former president that the liberal media is going wild over.
The differance--they are liberals.
Do you really think that the average USA citizen is interested in this very expensive ceremony of a former president's daughter??? I think NOT. How much of these millions could have been given to the poor and those families of unemployed. Now, what party does she belong? Isn't the Democrat party??? The real party of the rich for the rich and take from the working poor and middleclass to support their lifestyles of the rich and famous.

How can anyone really care about these rich people and their wedding. Are you invited,,NO? me neither. I make it a point not to send gifts, money or cards to people who I don't know and could care less about. Chelsey was hounded all the time her Dad was President. Clinton has been on my bad list since he invented the NAFTA program and all our jobs went to Mexico, China, India and other countries. People are dying in this unjust war in Iraq, Afganastan, and Pakistan. These countries are all led by corrupt, greedy people. Why are we supporting these countries. Afganastan caused Russia to almost be bankrupt, these people have been fighting since before Jesus was born. Obama lied when he said the first thing he would do if elected President would be to bring our troops home. You think Mezinsky will join the Army and fight in these countries....no way, but you will send your sons over there to lose their lives for nothing..meanwhile, rich people will attend a fancy wedding while your loved ones lose their lives. How many our our troops will be injured while these people spend 2 hours at a fancy wedding. I want to see someone from the press investigate how many of our troops are injured per day along with how many are killed. So lets see a DAILY INJURED LIST AND THE EXTENT OF THEIR INJURIES. So much for my feelings on the "details of the wedding".

Why are you here? No one is asking you to care. The media has chosen to obsess over it, and it's all just speculation, no facts. They have no idea what is really going on.

No one gives a rat's ass about your feelings on the "details of the wedding". Go post somewhere else if you don't like hearing about it. And Chelsea Clinton's wedding is HER wedding. It has absolutely nothing to do with how many troops were injured or died. She has the right to have what ever kind of wedding she wants. Just like anyone else. She has no control over the media, and seems to be trying very hard to keep the information from them. But of course there is no stopping the media.

I think everyone should mind their own freakin' business!

some updates: the wedding is now estimated to cost $5M; the clintons will be staying at george soros' daughter's house; and the extra security costs are expected to be paid by the taxpayers.

Who cares about this nonsense? Look at her Mom Mez, in 10+ years that's what you are going to be waking up to. No wonder Bill chased after women and caught a fat one in the Oral Office who huffed and puffed on his cigar. Run away while you have the strength.

Probably because its what civilized and polite people do when they hear about an upcoming wedding.

Of course we all know civility and respect are things long since gone for most Americans.

I'm always amused by the consevatives who go out of their way to disparage anything related to the Clintons, including their beautiful and wonderful daughter.

I guess its the same way we liberals feel about W, except we don't hate his daughters, just feel sorry for them.

Any conservative spending this kind of money in such a terrible economy would be denounced by liberals/media for being so wasteful and extravagant. But in this case, nooooooooo, it's an exciting social event.

Chelsea seems to be a fine young woman, which shows that an individual can overcome horrific circumstances and succeed. Mr. and Mrs. Clinton will go down in history as a smudge on the dignity of the Presidency. I am sick of these Marxists who tell us how to live, how to regress our lifestyle and then spend millions on a wedding. It's the Marie Antoinette syndrome, the Russian elite way, the ruling class privilege. Why do they all hate America so much? Move...and leave the rest of us alone.
