Tea Party Leader: NAACP Is Playing the Race Card

By
David Morgan
(CBS)  A co-founder of Tea Party 365 today denounced what he called the NAACP's "selective racism," claiming that the organization was condemning figures who are not part of the Tea Party movement.

Appearing on CBS' "Face the Nation" this morning, David Webb also suggested that fringe elements can be found in any movement.

The discussion followed the civil rights organization's annual convention earlier this week in which members passed a resolution calling on Tea Party leaders to "repudiate those in their ranks who use racist language in their signs and speeches."

NAACP Says Tea Party Tolerates Racism

On "Face the Nation" today, NAACP President Benjamin Jealous said the convention in Missouri was addressing the issue of the Council of Conservative Citizens of St. Louis, "a group that says that black people are not equipped to participate in democracy."

Jealous said the Council was telling people "'Join the Tea Party, we're active in it, we have great influence' - that raised eyebrows."

Jealous also pointed to instances of others claiming Tea Party affiliation or support making racist statements, and rally attendees carrying racist signs, such as Dale Robertson (a Tea Party organizer who appeared at a 2009 rally with an anti-Obama sign heralding the "N" word, though mis-spelled) .

Webb told anchor Bob Schieffer that Robertson "has been discredited and has been denounced and is not a Tea Party member."

Webb also said that Mark Williams (who responded to the resolution by telling NPR that the NAACP's leaders "make more money off of race than any slave trader ever") is not a Tea Party leader, "although he's perceived as such by some in the media and by Mr. Jealous."

[Williams is nonetheless described on the Tea Party Express website as their national spokesman.]

Webb said Jealous is being "a little bit disingenuous" by targeting what he called "racist" and "bigoted" elements of the Tea Party movement. "He spoke to Americans at large who are in the Tea Party movement and tried to tie it altogether.

"What I have a serious objection with is his selective condemnation of racism, when he will not condemn the New Black Panther Party for saying that they want to kill crackers and kill cracker babies, whereas he would condemn the KKK or any element that shows up . . . and claims that they are a part of the Tea Party."

Jealous replied that "You know, bigots come in all colors. We absolutely denounce the New Black Panther Party. But they aren't in our group. These folks are in your groups."

Webb said self-policing is the right and responsibility of any movement or organization and added, "That is what we do." He said Williams has been expelled from the National Tea Party Federation, "because of the letter that he wrote which he, I guess, may have considered satire but which was clearly offensive."

In the letter posted on marktalk.com but since removed, Williams wrote a letter to Abraham Lincoln in the voice of blacks decrying emancipation, saying that slavery was "a good gig. Three squares, room and board, all our decisions made by the massa in the house."

"I denounce any acts that I see many leaders do," said Webb, but suggested that for Jealous to say such acts were representative of millions of Tea Party members is "blatantly false."

Webb said the NACCP is "simply playing the race card."

Jealous thanked Webb for talking publicly against such racist comments by organization members. "You are the only national Tea Party leader who I've seen come out and publicly state the things that you stated, and taking on Mark Williams was much appreciated.

"I find it a bit disappointing that they keep just putting you out," Jealous continued. "You're the only one up there in New York who is saying anything. These other folks come out and say things nationally. I talk to you about Tea Party members who belong to the NAACP who stand with us, who are there saying, 'Please get these folks out of our party. It will improve the party.' Thank you for taking action in the last 24 hours.

"But you're also being disingenuous, when you say that a man who is a founder of Tea Party Express, who is on TV as a national spokesman, hasn't been a Tea Party leader. He absolutely was. He was the day that he wrote that vile note penned in my name saying that President Lincoln was the biggest racist ever because slavery was a good gig. Thank you for following through.

"I sort of did you a favor to draw this guy out!" Jealous added.

When asked by Schieffer if the two organizations might meet to discuss jointly issues they have in common, Webb agreed. "Think what it would mean to this nation if we would have an open forum and a real summit, a real 'tea summit' instead of a 'beer summit' on race relations."

Jealous added "We can certainly plan something, absolutely."

But Jealous returned to the issue of racism: "We have gotten death threats across the country since we asked you guys to expel these folks from your ranks.

"Deal with it, David. Keep on dealing with it."

There are many African-Americans, very bright, but forget who they are. Examples are Herman Cain and David Webb. Webb and Cain are Neo-Slaves who do not know they are African-Americans. In fact both Cain and Webb deny being African-Americans. These two do not share vision with President Obama because they say Obama is African- American. They both say they are Anglo-Americans only Black. And that is why they joined TEA Party and GOP - to fight against African-Americans. However, both do not know they are not wanted in TEA Party or GOP for their color. But like many neo-Slaves they force themselves into these organizations. Cain and Webb brains have been enslaved by FoxNews CEOs. This is a disease some us African-Americans have when we get money or big jobs from right wing masters. We forget where we come from. Look at Clearance Thomas. He does not mix with African-Americans. Webb and Cain should check themselves into mental rehab to see themselves as African-Americans. Let's pray for them. Amen.

Mr. Webb is slow for he does not know TEA Party is dead. But as many TEA Party leaders, Mr. Webb still tries to keep it alive. TEA Party stands for Taxed Enough Already, but I wondered why their members were fighting President Obama policies before 2010 elections. President Obama reduced tax for low and middle income earners, created law forcing insurers to accept preexisting conditions, if you lose your job and keeping your kids on your insurance until are 24 years old. Still TEA Partiers were howling at Obama. I concluded TEA Party was a racist group given its rhetoric and race of those attending rallies. However, TEA Party made mistakes in 2010 and after. One dispositive mistake-they endorsed radical GOP governors now abusing American workers. American people are furious with TEA Party and GOP. No sane American worker will vote for GOP or candidate endorsed by TEA Party. Further, TEA Party endorsed Paul Ryan Voucher-Care replacing Medicare for elderly. That was it. TEA party killed itself. Mr. Webb should know his TEA Party is dead.

The Tea Party is for the Senior Citizens. It?s like every time we try and stand up for what is, right race is being brought into it. The only thing is you?re not going to get rid of racial issues. Race issues have been here for years.
If someone apologies then accept it and get on with your life. You are creating a bigger thing than what it really is. We are not God and changes will come in good time. Forcing issues every time something goes wrong is not the way. All races have their beliefs and prejudice. Why don?t we ask Canada what they are doing? I don?t see any problem with racial issues there!

Bob Schieffer needs to step down as moderator of Face the Nation.
To say that he was unaware of the Black Panther issue, and that is why he did not question Holder about it proves he is either incompetent, or a liar.
If it had been white men in hoods taunting blacks at the polling place you can bet he would have been aware of it and reporting on it.

He also misstated the Arizona law, saying it gave police the right to pull over suspected illegals. It does not allow that at all.

He could have also asked Holder why he is going after Arizona for enforcing existing law about illegal immigration, but has ignored "Sanctuary cities" like San Francisco that have publicly stated that they would not follow what Federal laws require them to do!
Media Bias? You can bet your ass on it!

At no time in history have whites admitted to being racist-
"?Truthfully, this tendency for whites to deny the extent of racism and racial injustice likely extends back far before the 1960s. Although public opinion polls in previous decades rarely if ever asked questions about the extent of racial bias or discrimination, surveys of white opinion suggest that at no time have whites in the U.S. ever thought blacks or other people of color were getting a bad shake. White Southerners were all but convinced that their black slaves, for example, had it good, and had no reason to complain about their living conditions or lack of freedoms. After emancipation, but during the introduction of Jim Crow laws and strict Black Codes that limited where African Americans could live and work, white newspapers would regularly editorialize about the "warm relations" between whites and blacks, even as thousands of blacks were being lynched by their white compatriots??Quote

Of course they are playing the race card! Just in time for the mid-term elections. Too bad it is going to backfire on them and set them back even further than they are now. These genius's just don't get it. Nice try, though.

I will start taking the NAACP seriously when I hear them denounce the likes of Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton and Louis Farrakhan, among others... Some prominent Black leaders actually promote racism to keep and expand their own power... They stoke a black rage against the white establishment. You see the effectiveness when 90% of Blacks vote Democrat when this party's policies have led to the destruction of black families, especially in the inner city, a 70% illegitimacy rate and a seemingly permanent underclass. In other words, they vote for their own destruction... They don't seem to realize that Obama would never have been elected if the racism that they perceive was still present in society. Indeed, that racism against whites has been much more prevalent for many years now...

I for one, would like to see groups like the NAACP, support their more conservative brethren too and not be a political arm of Obama, someone who doesn't want what is best for Blacks or his own country.

And the alternative is the Tea Party? You're not dealing with reality.

It appears to me that some sections of the USA feel that there can be unlimited numbers of people coming to the USA who really do not Like the Americans already here. These newcomers whether mexican or latino or muslims or arabs from all over the world feel they can come here illegally or legally and then, set up their own laws and communes and ignore American Laws and in some cases, violate the rights of Americans who have been born here. These new acts will not be allowed to happen. The Democrat and Liberal Leaders and pro-Obama, pro-Holder types feel they can issue laws that the majority of true Americans are opposed to...This was the first series of mistakes made when the Reid-Pelosi Majority Democrat-ran US Congress began passing laws most Americans are against...Add to this outrage we all feel against Democrat Liberals abuse of running the Nation the fact that the fringe groups, minorities and Leftists will call right wingers names such as racists etc and you have a perfect storm of fighting that could lead to a civil war...yet the US news media has handed over its responsibility to report the news to the Obama White House Handlers and yet no one is terrified of the resulting outcome...I am quite worried...I feel the same way about the nation going in to civil war as I felt when the first movie Jaws came out in 1979 (yes a long time ago) I recall many people were leery or scared to get into ocean waters for years after that. One note to the younger people who have grown up with liberal teachers telling them to "decide what is right by how it feels and ignore the facts" is this warning : you ignore the facts of a serious political issue at your own peril ... - Derr Gett Dundee

Makes perfect sense to me... Obama and his administration are nihilists, believing that the existing capitalist, constitutional system must be completely destroyed before they can replace it with something that they believe will be better... To do this, they will align themselves with any group that seeks the same thing, whether their ultimate goals are anywhere close or not... You only have to look at the outreach to the Muslim world and how a policy of appeasement has worked with other countries or the fact that this administration is siding with a foreign country rather than it's own people in Arizona to confirm this...

In other words, the worst president in our nation's history hates his own country!

CNN just came out with the Shirley Sherrod story. Sounds to me like just more proof that the NAACP is the true racist organization in this country. It shows how they all laughed while she recounted her racist misuse of her government position.
