Save Money -- Plenty -- with These Websites

By
CBSNews
(CBS)  No matter what your shopping style is, there are websites that can help you save lots of money.

And CBS News and Business and Economics Correspondent Rebecca Jarvis spotlighted them on "The Early Show."

The sites range from one that sells gift cards at a discount to one that has free shipping coupons for any big store you can think of.

"Never pay full price again," Jarvis said.

Check out this list of deals galore on the Internet, as described by Jarvis:

1. DEALIO.COM:

This site is great for active deal hunters. If you're an aggresive shopper, and really enjoying getting every possible penny off of a product you can, this is the site for you.

Dealio.com compares prices on 30 million products from 100,000 merchants and has a larger retail search than rival sites offer. It provides coupon codes with a thumbs up/thumbs down review to show how many users have had success using the coupon.

FOR EXAMPLE: If you're in the market for running shoes, this is what Jarvis found on that site quick search:

•Nike Air Max+ 2009 Women's Running Shoes
•Finish Line - $159.99
•RoadRunner - $159.99
•Zappos - $129.60
•Nike - $127.97
•Eastboy - $59.99 - THAT'S A $100 DIFFERENCE!

2. DEALNEWS.COM:

This website is perfect for passive deal hunters -- if you know you're interested in a product, but are cool with waiting until just the right one and offers come along.

Let's say you want to buy a big-screen TV and you'd like to know when a deal happens. Dealnews.com will send you an e-mail alert when it does. Dealnews scours over 2,000 online retailers and tens of thousands of deals to deliver the best 100-plus deals each day. It verifies that they're valid, the lowest total price, and from a reputable retailer. It bans stores with a history of poor customer service.

In addition to tracking specific items, you can subscribe to the dealnews daily reminder e-mail, whhich updates you with top deals of the day.

FOR EXAMPLE: If you have time to wait around and are looking for deals on possibly purchasing a Dell laptop:

DELL LAPTOP
•Dell Inspiron 15 Pentium Dual-Core - $450 - Posted 2 days ago
•Dell Vostro 3300 Intel Core - $550 - Posted 3 days ago
•Dell Studio 15 Intel Core - $650 - Posted 1 week 3 days ago

3. GIFTCARDGRANNY.COM:

You may just associate them with the holidays, but going to a friend's beach house this summer? A BBQ with the neighbors? Gift cards are awesome gifts that are very easy to give and don't involve any heavy lifting!

Never pay full price for a gift card again. Gift Card Granny sells merchants' gift cards for less than face value. They'll also buy gift cards you don't want (for 80 percent to 90 percent of the card's value).

Buying a discounted gift card to use for your own shopping is a good way to score additional discounts. For example, buy a $100 Gap gift card for $90 (instant $10 savings), use it to shop online and use a coupon code for additional savings.

4. FREESHIPPING.COM:

It's hot, it's humid, and with all of these great tips, you're shopping online anyway! So why not take double adavantage and get free shipping in addition to all the great deals?!

High shipping costs can be a big drawback to shopping online.

FreeShipping.org offers free-shipping coupons for more than 1,800 retailers, including Amazon.com, Target and eBay.

www.freepricealerts.com
I'd like to add this money-saving tool to your list. It's a FREE web browser tool I stumbled across. Basically you just shop on Amazon like you normally do and click on items of interest. When FreePriceAlerts locates a cheaper price, a small pop-up arrives in your left hand corner screen for a few moments. You'll get a link and a notice on how much the item costs and how much you'll save. Often a better deal is found by another seller right on Amazon, so I can still add the items to my Amazon shopping cart for easy check out. Love it!

I think you meant to mention Freeshipping.org not Freeshipping.com.

Freeshipping.org is a free website where anyone can find free shipping codes and discounts to save money shopping online. Freeshipping.com requires you to pay for your free shipping offers.

You can't "save" by spending.

You can only "spend less" for goods.
