"Survivor" Sandra Diaz-Twine Receives $1M

CBSNews
(CBS)  Does it pay to be a villain? For Sandra Diaz-Twine, it sure does.

Last night, Diaz-Twine was hailed the winner of "Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains." She is now the only person to ever win "Survivor" twice. She previously won the "Pearl Islands" edition of the reality show.

All three of the finalists in "Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains" were on the side of the "bad guys."

Diaz-Twine received her oversized check for $1 million on "The Early Show" from Julie Chen. However, when Chen gave Diaz-Twine the real check, Diaz-Twine asked, "Can I put it in my bra?"

Chen said she could do whatever she wants.

With that, Diaz-Twine quickly tucked it in her shirt.

Diaz-Twine said she was feeling "good."

"When I went out there to play, I just wanted to stay in the game as long as I could and I would do whatever it took to get to the end, and I accomplished what I set out to do."

But she says she's surprised she won, too.

"A lot of people mentioned at the final tribal council how physical (Parvati Shallow) is and how she won a lot of immunities on her own and they respected her for that and so did I. So I honestly believed that it was 5-4, and that she had 5."

Shallow said she would have been "surprised at any outcome," but thought Diaz-Twine's reviews were going to make an impact in the final council.

Shallow told Chen, "I was like, 'I think Sandra got this one.'"

As for Russell Hantz, known for his "villain" tactics, he told Chen he's feeling great because he was named "Player of the Game."

He asked, "I didn't get one vote, but I still got player of the game. How does that happen?"

Chen asked, "How do you feel about the fact that you made it all the way to the end and not one single person, not even Jerry, voted for you?"

Hantz replied, "I don't understand it. Obviously the public don't understand it either. Because I got Player of the Game."

Chen pressed, "Well, it's not designed to be played where the public gets a voice."

Hantz retorted, "Right. If you would have watched my tribal, live tribal, that's the problem that I have in the game. I think there is a flaw in the system."

However, he said his $100,000 check does take out some of the sting.
Hantz said, "It makes my point valid. It does. To me, it does."

But Diaz-Twine said, "Him and Rupert were neck and neck, so for him to assume that everyone in America was rooting for him, he's wrong."

Hantz said he wouldn't have done anything differently. He said he played, not necessarily to win, but to make it to the end.

Diaz-Twine said, "When I saw his finale, I could tell right there that he didn't win. And for him to have not known that and turn around and played two weeks later and do the same exact thing, he wasn't trying to win."
So what is she going to do with all that money?

Diaz-Twine said, "Pay my taxes first."

"You don't want to pull a Richard Hatch," Chen said.

She replied, "No, ma'am."

I wonder how much of this show is for real with a camera crew filming 5 ft. away. Should we even bother to watch it

I think the right person won . The object of the game is to make it to the end and vote off the other tribe members with enough class, style, and dignity, that the Jury would vote for you to win a Million Dollars. That means you have to develop relationships with your fellow players. If you act like a obnoxious jerk trying to control everyone that does not win votes. You can't lie to everyone and expect them to vote for you. To everyone who says Sandra Had no strategy hr strategy was to not be a threat an last as long as possible. She executed her Plan brillantly by let her tribemates take her to the end thinking she wouldn't get any votes. That how Sandra Outwitted Outplayed and Outlasted everyone,Because they under estimated her ability to win votes. In order to win Survivor you have to win over the Jury. You do this by screwing as few Jury members as possible.

The game involves lying blind-siding physical and mental challenges.....OUT WIT OUT LAST......says nothing about class style and dignity first off...and did u watch the season and see the things sandra said about people where the class ur talking about.....

It's not American Idol. No one CARES whether anyone here or anyone not playing Survivor has an opinion on who should have won. They are judged by their peers in the game and in the end..the majority of the jury obviously thought Sandra deserved to win and that Russell was a butt. A big part of the game is the SOCIAL game, and obviously Russell plays to come in second. Sandra won the whole game not only ONCE...but TWICE. No one is THAT lucky...

I have watched all 20 seasons and this one was by far the biggest joke.
I just proves what's wrong in today's society, you ride on someone else's coat tales and then "take credit". My strategy to get Russell out worked???

I would have more respect for Sandra and Parvati if they said "we" kept Russell because we knew he wouldn't get any votes.

The 'Only" reason Sandra won was she isn't named Russell and the other half didn't like Parvati. Parvati is just as manipulative as Russell she just has a smile and curves.

This show has turned more into a popularity contest than a game of survivor. Boo Hoo what a bunch of babies.

If Russell wasn't the best player and everyone hated him why did he make it to the end not once but twice? Why? Becuase he controlled the game!

Every single person on the jury was bitter because he made it to the end and they didn't. The game started with 20 people, 19 against 1 and they still couldn't get it done.

No mirrors in their houses as to who is to blame.

What a bunch of cowards!

Outwit Outplay Outlast???

REALY??

"Becuase he controlled the game!"

Russell and YOU just think he controlled the game. No one completely controls the game. Impossible. One word, one action can completely change everything. How many times had they decided on someone to vote out only to have it change numerous times before tribal councel, because someone did something or said something they didn't like? And the person that originally was supposed to be voted out never does get voted out because something else always managed to come up to draw attention away from them. Chance plays a huge part in it.

The right one won the game. Russell did not play to win. If he did he would have learned from the first time he played. The jury votes for the winner. Always has been. He needs to go on a different show for America's votes to win. He is such a sore looser it is sad. Maybe he should have his own show and that way he can be on the jury and vote for himself to win. He missed the boat twice in not ensuring he was strong enough to convince the jury that he should win. Colby was correct in saying Russell is delusional. He is the only one who believes he should have won. Playing the game and winning is different. Sandra was the right one to win the game. Jury decides Russell. You are only good at getting rid of people in a game. Not getting the reward of the game.

The show was only good this season because Russell made it interesting. I would wager that half the viewers would of tuned out if Russell were voted off 5 or 6 episodes ago. The other players were just not that fun to watch.

Russell most definately should of been the winner. He saved Parvati with the idol and Sandra was only lucky to have been in the villain camp to have made it to the finals. She did not do anything to help he own cause. Parvati is also full of it. She had no real strategy, but hang onto Russell and ride it out.

Those jury voters were a bunch of bitter whiners. If anyone is a sore loser it is them. I like Rupert but he just came off as a big baby. Coach is a weirdo, JT is just dumb, and Danielle was a bitter two-timer who did have it in for Russell all along. In other words I have little respect for most of them for not overcoming their own emotions. Yes Russell did get you voted out, but Parvati and Sandra also had a hand in it. The best player was Russell but the worst got the reward.

I don't think Sandra deserved to win. She didn't do anything and I didn't like her attitude. Russell played the game and did what he needed to win...he should be the Sole Survivor. And Parvati should have been booted off long ago.

So you are saying that you need to get down and dirty to be considered a winner? I think there is something to be said for playing the game and not having to get dirty.

You are saying that you didn't like Sandra's attitude? So does that mean that you liked Russell's attitude? Russell is an ignorant ass with a really lousy attitude.
