Immigration Activists Boycott Ariz.-Cubs Game

Chicago-area immigration reform activists opposed to a tough new Arizona law say they'll be back at Wrigley Field the next three days as the Cubs play the Diamondbacks.

About 40 protesters chanting "Boycott Arizona" and "Reform Not Racism" gathered Thursday afternoon.

Most fans heading into the game seemed bewildered by the protest.

Cubs fan Tom McGrath says protesting outside a baseball game made the cause seem silly.

Activists nationwide have called for a boycott of Arizona tourism and businesses, including its athletic teams. The law makes it a state crime to be in the United States illegally and lets police question anyone they suspect of being an illegal immigrant. The law is slated to take effect this summer.

In Chicago on Thursday, a lone counterprotester holding two large American flags yelled that protesting Arizona is protesting America.

All these activists protesting for immigration reform, what they are really hoping for is amnesty for the 12 million already here.

Well, I happen to be Hispanic and I don't have a problem showing the authorities here my ID. I was stopped in Mesa, AZ, because my truck matched one that was used in a theft. I didn't have a problem with that.
The only people that need to worry about being in Arizona are those who are there illegally-This is not a racial issue.

Any immigration activist should be ashamed of themselves because what they're doing is encouraging breaking established law by the illegal alien. They are frauds and criminal instigators. They are misguided and not very patriotic. All they care about is criminal illegal aliens. They are also criminals because they support and advocate groups committing crimes against our nation and our citizens and those legally documented to be here. Our nation has no room for these types of individuals and nor should they be tolerated. The activists should protest their own kind for breaking our laws and coming here illegally. That's where their actions should be focused.

CHReed - do you know the meaning of fratricide? I don't see anything about family members killing each other over this issue. What I see is the Mexican teenager who executed a border patrol agent; I see the rancher who was killed by an "illegal alien"; I see the two people who were executed in Columbus, NM for getting in the way of the "illegal aliens" moving their drugs thru New Mexico. My liberty is secure because I can prove that I am an American citizen and I am not bothered by the idea of showing my driver's license or any other form of I.D. if I am asked by the police. The ones who should worry are those who are breaking our laws. This impacts my liberty more than having to show I.D.

All it would take is for someone to report that a hispanic looking male hadcommitted a crime in that area. The police , probably rightfully so, might stop him to ask questions. Under this law they would then be required to demand id, which he would not have on him, has he was jogging. At that point under AZ law he must be arrested and fined. And what would his crime have been? Not carrying idenity documents.

Lets see, people in Chicago are pissed by what happens in Arizona, they want to boycot a Chicago Cubs game just because they are playing ball players who play for Arizona but do not live in Arizona or had anything to do with the bill. Yeah makes perfect sense to me. I'm not going to go see the Grand Canyon either because they want to enforce the law. Get a friggin life.

The majority of the people in Chicago are not pissed because of the Arizona move to do what our federal government won't do! The government enacted the Law and won't Enforce it!
