Officials say a Continental Express flight from Houston to the Washington area has been diverted to North Carolina after a threatening message was written on a bathroom mirror.

The Transportation Security Administration says Continental Flight 3006 was headed for Dulles International Airport in Virginia on Wednesday when it was directed to land at Piedmont Triad International Airport near Greensboro "out of an abundance of caution."

The TSA said the plane was met by law enforcement officers after taxiing to a remote area of the airfield.

Airline officials say the Embraer 145 regional jet carried 45 passengers and three crew members. It was operated by regional carrier ExpressJet.

Guilford County Communications told CBS News Affiliate WFMY-TV in Greensboro that the threat came in around 10:20 a.m.

Stephanie Freeman, a spokeswoman with the North Carolina airport, told WFMY-TV that all passengers were safely taken off the plane.
