Supreme Court to Hear Christian Group's Appeal

By
CBSNews
(AP)  The Supreme Court hears arguments Monday on whether a law school can deny campus recognition to a Christian group whose leaders must subscribe to its beliefs and code of conduct.

The University of California's Hastings Law School says the Christian Legal Society's policy discriminates against gays and non-Christians.

The society requires officers and voting members to sign a statement of faith and agree that "Christians should not engage in sexual conduct outside of a marriage between a man and a woman."

The school says official campus groups, which are eligible for funding and other benefits, may not exclude people because of religious belief or sexual orientation.

The Christian Legal Society responds that its code addresses conduct, not orientation. The CLS also argues that groups shouldn't be forced to allow people who don't share their beliefs to become leaders.

Guns
Standards= Code of laws, rules, procedures, ethics used to ensure compliance
within a network,firm, ect.
One wants to be part of a group, then compliance with set standards is essential.

Or better still, let us see the courage of their convictions, let them go to Afghanistan, and thump at the Taliban, their mirror image.

One of the problems with allowing religious groups in any public institution, is that they will use their religion, to ostracize, to defame, and to discriminate, against those who have done absolutely nothing, to deserve such treatment, simply because of their religious beliefs.

Religion should be banned on campus, in the same manner as in the public schools.

We should not allow such discrimination on our campuses, of higher learning......they should be about education, and not persecution.

Christians are often targeted because they are different. Too bad there's the first amendment, that pesky thing about "Freedom of Religion".

You only see part of the concept.

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion"

Very clearly worded, this is designed to permit the freedom of worship, but also designed so as not to allow any religion to use the law to force it's beliefs on anyone.

If you discriminate, you have no right to collect our tax money to further your perversion of the concept of religion.

Freedom of religion also includes freedom from religion, regardless of how the superstitious want to spread their beliefs, my tax money, by law, cannot be allocated to support such people, be they Christian (this group fails that test at any rate) Muslim, Hebrew, Buddhist, Santeria, Yoruba, Satanist, or whatever.

Without propaganda CBS news would just have to shut down and send thier employees home .Real christians are laughing at you all. Petty arguments over what is clearly stated to be a abomination. What a waste of time and effort to even to have read this article and yet I have to respond to the childish way in which cbs runs a news site. Pretty hard up for something to print since toygotya motors confessed they have to dig and claw at society with a type writer and self loathing ego.Real adults working here and believe it opr not some the people who work for cbs claim to be scholars. Show me the credentials and i will show a pile of papers that qualifies them to act like primates in dung slinging contest.

There was only one real Christian, and he got nailed to a cross. Everyone since are posers.

What you claim to be an abomination obviously is not so for others, and they have that freedom of belief guaranteed by law, just as you do yours.

No one forced you to "waste your time", you chose to, so don't blame others for your wasted time.

Your definition of "real" as in real adults is also flawed, as you, like so many semi-literate tea-klux baggers, choose to redefine the word to fit your ASPD-addled vision.

A dictionary can be your friend, use it, and it will help you look less foolish than is now the case.

Why is the school getting involved now. This group has been there quite a while and everything had to be submitted and approved prior to ANYTHING. They could just grandfather it or fight it with all new rules. There had to be a $3 bill on the college board who wanted to make an issue about this small matter.

Can the common worker walk into the union without agreeing to the standards? NO
Can anyone practise medicine without training and following standards? No
Can a teacher teach whatever their ideologies are? No they must follow set and signed standards.
Ect, ect...........

==================================================

Ummm, there's a difference between being held to a standard and discrimination.

Once you figure out the distinction, get back to us.

I really don't see how this is much of a problem. Only officers and voting members have to sign the pledge. And then the pledge states that those officers and voting members onle AGREE that Christians should not engage in sexual conduct outside of marriage, yada, yada, yada.

It doen't say ANYTHING about actually practicing what you preach. :)

What is there to answer? lol
All you wrote is a bunch of nonsensical jibberish.
You ask me who I am to judge someones religion and then in very same sentence tell me to go and judge another mans religion.
You're not too bright
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I would say you're the one dull of mind along with like mined individuals.
To do the ostrich thing by sticking you're head in the sand when danger lurks ,is plain ignorance and stupidity. To blast the peaceful and helpful christian and pay no heed to terrorists with a proven violent agenda against non muslims is downright idiocy.

I never once mentioned Muslims.
It's you idiots that keep bringing them up.
I'm dull of mind?
You are so far beyond the pail of stupidity it's staggering.

If you want talk danger, there's been just as much violence and death caused by moronic Christians in this world as their has been by moronic Muslims.

Maybe, just maybe, they wouldn't hate you quite as much if you hadn't been bombing the crap out of them and killing their civilians for the last 10 years.
Did you ever consider that?
No of course not, you're an idiot.

You BOTH play the game of my god is better than your god all the time
And you are BOTH complete idiots for doing so

God doesn't exist. He's a fantasy invisible man that weak minded people and losers need to help them get through life.

As far as I'm concerned, you can take your god and shove him up your a##
