Sheryl Crow: Son a Reason to be "Green"

(CBS)  Sheryl Crow has always advocated for environmental issues, and now she is taking to the stage for the cause.

Crow is performing at New York's Hammerstein Ballroom on Monday, March 22, to mark World Water Day, which calls attention to the preservation and cleanup of the world's water sources. All proceeds from the ticket sales will go to the Nature Conservancy, and the funds will help support river and lake projects across the United States to help protect those sources of clean, fresh drinking water.

Agreeing to perform for the cause wasn't a hard decision for the nine-time Grammy winner.

"I've been an environmentalist for a long time," she said. "The Nature Conservancy relies on people's donations...it just seemed like a really easy thing to do."

The Nature Conservancy, she continued, works at the local level to help educate corporations and people about how to clean up their water resources.

"It's an extremely important issue," she stressed.

Crystal Light, which teamed up with the Nature Conservancy for a year-long partnership that includes Crow's concert, is also hoping to make a splash on World Water Day. The company is donating all the profits from the sale of its products on March 22 to the Nature Conservancy - up to $750,000.

Crow, who is working on a new album she said will be out in May or June, added that her son, 2-year-old Wyatt, also fuels her desire to advocate for water preservation and other environmentalist causes.

"There's a new urgency about it, now that he's here," she said. "He will be here after I'm gone, and his kids, too."

Now is an important time for people to get involved in protecting the environment, Crow said, including the world's water resources.

"I think we're at a turning point where people can really make a difference."

Sheryl Crowe has about as much credibility as Michael Moore. Americ "going green" will cost more in electric generation costs than you can imagine. If the electric cars save emissions, the electric generating plants will make up for it, since the wind and solar fields are being fought tooth and nail by idiots like Sheryl Crowe, because they "clutter the landscape".

Sheryl, I agree with you. Most conservatives agree with you.

Sheryl, you do realize that conservatives tend to conserve, correct?

Former President Bush's personal carbon footprint is much smaller that his former rival, Al Gore. You would never know it if all you do is read the NYT or watch TV while Gore accepted his Nobel Prize and Academy Award or if you are a loser that listens to Michael Moore.

The problem is Hollywood and the social elites in LA, SF, DC, Boston, NYC and elsewhere - liberal areas.

Count the liberals with private jets, limo's and who demand huge suites at hotels. The problem Sheryl is the people whom you represent, not the conservatives who DO believe in conservation.
