US Airways Crew Still Ill from Plane Fumes
(AP)
A union representative says eight crew members are still sick from problems on three earlier flights with a plane where crew and passengers got sick in North Carolina this week.
The Charlotte Observer reported that Judith Murawski of the Association of Flight Attendants says eight pilots and crew members on flights in December and January haven't returned to work because they are too ill.
The same plane was involved Tuesday, when nine people were taken to a Charlotte hospital after complaining of symptoms consistent with exposure to toxic fumes.
A spokeswoman for the Federal Aviation Administration says US Airways mechanics determined bad seals on a rear door allowed engine exhaust into the plane.
A US Airways spokeswoman did not immediately return a phone call Thursday seeking comment.
