Marijuana Grinder Evacuates Wash. Airport

(AP)  To the security screeners at the Yakima Air Terminal, the device in the belongings of a departing passenger looked like a grenade. That prompted the brief evacuation of about a dozen people from the terminal Tuesday evening.

Military bomb technicians from the Army's Yakima Training Center were called.

Yakima police Sgt. Tim Bardwell says the item carried by a 23-year-old California man was actually a commercially purchased marijuana grinder.

The man was arrested for investigation of drug possession. Bardwell says the grinder contained a substance that appeared to be marijuana.

Minimum wage = minimally qualified.Airport security is a waste. I'd rather provide my own security. This fear of everything will destroy this country financially. If there is another attempted highjacking/shoe bomber we need to handle it differently and send a new message to would-be bombers.Passengers should not only beat him to a pulp, but totally mutilate his corpse so that he cannot "enter heaven",and dump the highjackers body on the tarmac. Some may say that we need to interogate them, but you're not going to get any info from them anyway. The leaders with info that may be useful are not the same people that are carrying the attacks out, they're hiding in safety. Jihad extremist can only spread terror if you fear them. When purchased at the store I doubt it had a sign that said marijuana grinder 10$ it probably said tobacco grinder. Just another weak attempt to make marijuana and users look bad when just like ky7474 had mentioned they should be concentrating on all those harmful legal drugs that kill people everyday not marijuana. So now this guy will go to jail waste time and money in court possibly go to jail for a period of time for a few flakes of mary jane in his container. Tylonal kills more people and does more harm then marijuana.

If it truly looked like a grenade, I can't blame them. If this is another attempt to demonize marijuana, it was very foolish. How many passengers got on board with their dangerous prescrption meds or better yet, does the airline serve alcohol to it's passengers? Both are more dangerous than marijuana.

Grinding pot is an approved method of preparing it for use in a vaporizer, which allows chronic pain patients to get the medicine without the smoke.

Our President, and the two before him, smoked marijuana. Either they should be in prison or no one should.

Might we see a photo of this marijuana grinder that looks like a grenade? I'm havin' a helluva time visualizing it. Besides... grinding pot is not an approved method of cleaning/preparing it for use. Anything in it (seeds, stems) that would need to be ground would more properly be discarded. Not that I have any personal experience, mind you. I'm just sayin'...
