Jacko's Dad Nixing $15G Monthly Allowance?

CBSNews
(CBS/ AP)  Michael Jackson's father has turned down an offer from his son's estate of a $15,000 monthly allowance - even though the King of Pop specifically excluded his father from his will.

That's the word from Showbiz411.com columnist Roger Friedman, who told "Early Show" co-anchor Harry Smith Tuesday, "Joe Jackson has been petitioning the court, asking for an allowance -- even though he wasn't in the will -- specifically not in the will. And now I can tell you that he's been offered a monthly allowance of $15,000 and he doesn't want it. It's not enough for him. So he's still carrying on in court."

Friedman also called the $200-$250 million deal the estate reportedly has reached with Sony Music Entertainment involving the late Gloved One's music the biggest of its type, ever -- the largest involving music only and not merchandising or other avenues.

The Associated Press is reporting that it involves 10 projects over seven years, and one of the albums will be of never-before-released Jackson recordings and will come out in November.

Delighted to hear that MJ's estate signed big contract for his music, which is worth it. Can't wait to hear his new music and buy it. I listen to MJ all the time, just can't get enough of his songs. Am glad his money is going to his kids and not into the greedy hands of his freeloading family. MJ loved his kids and they love him. Let them enjoy the money and maybe give some to charity, like their father.

Look, this man was taking care of his father before he died and he was taking care of most of his family, that's just how it was so get over it. But since Joe turned down the 15k a month, I would not give him another offer.

I don't think MJ would want his father to have anything and why should he get anything from the estate? He is a dim wit and needs to just go away. MJ was always a money making machine for his whole family and I believe they all took advantage of him. I think the whole estate should go to his children. Period.

He should not get anything. Micheal Jackson's last will should be controlling.

I have no sympathy for people who toruture there children. Since he was abusive to the very end he sould not be allowed to profit from his abuse. The wierd thing about this is abuser's usually have a problem aknowloaging there abuse.

The man is dispicable. While I agree, Michael left him out of his will for several reasons, I'm sure he is a burden to the remaining members of the family - to such an extent an application is being made about an allowance - likely no one wishes to deal with him. It's cut him lose or deal with him. An offer was made, have a judge confirm it and the executor or appointed trustee deal with him. Unfortunately, he can cause a lot of problems for the remaining family and efforts to manage the estate.

Please, please, please stop using the awful UK euphemism "Jack*" when referring to Michael Jackson. He hated that name and to continue to use it is incredibly disrespectful.

Joe, what are you doing? Your son kept you out of his will for a reason, because of what you did to him. He must have honestly detested you if even in his death he wants you to have nothing.

We don't have to live in that house to know what has gone on for a long time which is your son displeasure with you stems from many years of physical and mental abuse. This is why he never grew up as he always still tried to relive his childhood.

I know of many people who would love to have $15,000 a month to live and would not think that it was not enough for their needs or wants. Crazy joker!

To Roger Friedman, do you deliberately disrespect MJ's name by referring to him as Jacko because of your own insecurities?

It would appear Michael's suffering is thankfully over. I never felt sorry for him, but looking at how everyone around him - family, friends and advisors.

I think Michael is in a much better place now.

This guy is scum.
