Remains Found 2 Months After Haiti Quake

Haitian survivors on Friday marked the two-month anniversary of a devastating earthquake that leveled most of the capital, while workers continued to recover the remains of quake victims from under the rubble of several buildings.

Around 700 Haitians dressed in white marched through downtown Port-au-Prince in memory of the dead, placing floral tributes at some of the damaged buildings.

Elsewhere in the capital, teams of workers used simple tools and their bare hands to remove rubble from crumbled homes in the Bel Air neighborhood.

Meanwhile, several people were injured after a partially-destroyed building collapsed on them while they were inside it, salvaging wood.

According to a bystander, 10 people were inside the building when it collapsed, three of whom managed to escape.

Haiti: The Road to Recovery

U.S. soldiers and paramedics quickly surrounded the scene after the incident. Several injured men were seen lying on the street outside the collapsed building.

Aid groups say they're ready to build, but trash and sewage are piling up at the squalid tent camps of
Haitian earthquake victims while the government has failed to relocate anyone.

With torrential rains expected any day, authorities are not even close to providing the shelters they promised.

Heavy rains typically start around April 1st and there already have been deadly floods to the west of the earthquake zone.

People are jammed in crowded camps - and the mazes of rough shelters are thick with flies, mosquitoes and the stench of overflowing pit latrines.

The residents say they can't wait much longer.

Aid organizations have plans to build at least 140,000 shelters, but nowhere to build.

Government officials insist they are making progress in closed-door negotiations with private landowners.

Are we really surprized??? We are talking about a very corrupt government in Haiti. I find it interesting, that we hear little or no news about how the wealthy Haitians are helping or supporting their poorer sister sna brothers. Now, is the time to replace the corrupt leaders--before they even get wealthier on aid money.

What would help to improve the situation would be if the aid groups would work with the local Vodoun leaders. The how the aid effort is being organized and rationed is not working as effectively as it could. The groups in Haiti right now are controlled by Christains. They are operating under ideas that are incorrect. They are withholding aid to the Vodouin people. In fact their fears are so much in control that they are denying food to those that follow Vodou and as a result the Voduin people are dying based upon religion. I think if the Christians understood the truth in Vodou and not Hollywood's image ,they would make different choices.

I will explain a bit why the persecution is happening and briefly try to clear up some of the myths surrounding Vodou. Hollywood has promoted a faith that is so far form the real religion that the two are not at all similar. The Aid organizations are reacting to that image. The humfo or church group is the center of life and it operates also as a farm. On the farm, the people grow their own food and raise their own animals. When food supplies run low or at times when extra food is needed. Vodouins will hold a ceremony. It is like a Madri Gras as one noted author said on Sally Jessie Rapheal show some years ago. We give our animals a great meal, use perfumes on them and if they step forward use them in the ceremony. You see, we believe we are all leaves on the same tree as you take care of one leaf the whole tree does better. Animals as well as humans have a spirit and are a leaf .We give to that animal the choice, and if it chooses we kill them very quickly and humanely. We pray and give thanks to god for our blessings and to the animal for becoming our food. Christians have a similar practice. They raise their animals on a farm where they are often mistreated, kill they at times les than humanely and pick them up at a butcher. Christians often then pray over their meal as we do. In Haiti, they do not have grocery stores like we do in the west. The church farm is a natural evolution and it insures care and respect given to all.

We believe in one god.We believe in Jesus ,Mary and Joseph, the holy trinity and obvouisly what we call Good God. Vodouins hold that you must never hold a grudge nor should you act out of emotion. It is ok to feel it but not react out of it. That one can be hard especially when you get cut off in traffic or other silly things in our daily life. A priest must help all that come to him, no matter what. If one has no home or income ,the humfo becomes a source of hope and a chance for a new start. I read recently, one journalist say Vodou was actually more like Buddhism. We strive for purity of heart. Only those that have achieved self mastery over their own faults as well as joy can hope to reach up and touch the hand of a saint or angel. If you are cruel, unjust or still confined by your own faults then the angels will not work through you. It is through this interaction that Hollywood has promoted the image of possession. In truth it is very hard to strive to that level and earn the time with these divine beings. You cannot be cruel or hurtful or act selfishy and expect any angel to go near you as they wont. It must be earned.

Thank you for your time

Everyone reads about 3rd world countries..soon America will be a 3rd world country. America is broke. We live in Illinois and our Governor wants to raise taxes 33%. The State of Illinois is broke, busted, no funds in the treasurey, the checks will bounce at the bank. Former Rod Blagovich bankrupt our state and now he is on a TV show, how sick is that. Boycott this show that Donald Trump has on with Blago as one of the"stars". He needs to be in jail/prison. So do some of the government officals who have not helped the people of Haiti. It is time for people in many countries to throw out the corrupt people and elect the right people to care about "PEOPLE". We have squalar here in the U.S. and it's going to get worse. Did Haiti come to help the people who suffered when Hurricane Katrina hit, NO!...

For many years I think the government of Haiti has been corrupt. The people have bowed down to this corrupt government and the goverment officals live like Kings while the people starve or are in living in the streets. The people of Haiti need to throw the present government out and elect government officals who are honest and caring individuals. This will be difficult but I think it can be done. I also want our American government to stop sending money to Haiti when the goverment officals skim most of the money and supplies off for themselves and it all ends up on the black market. Time for the people of Haiti to stand up for their rights as human beings and stop asking other people to support them. I have sent money thru the Red Cross but I will send no more because of the corrupt government in Haiti and they are not helping their people but helping themselves.

Why should I read past the first sentence? It starts out talking about a "two-month anniversary." There is no such anniversary. Anniversaries are only marked at integral numbers of years after the event. No fractions of years are permitted by the definition. I'm sick of this uneducated hype. You journalists need to present stories which are gripping because of their factual content, not because of your flagrant and repeated misuse of words which have a clear, unarguable definition.
