Caught on Tape: Car Slams into Cop

(CBS)  Icy roads following a massive snow storm made for a near-death experience for a Brooklyn Heights police officer.

Lt. John Lambert, a 22-year veteran, was helping a driver whose car had spun out on a slippery patch of road when another car became out-of-control.

First, the car slammed into the police cruiser and then the still car. The lieutenant pushed the 18-year-old driver he was assisting out of the way, perhaps saving his life, and took the brunt of the hit.

The police cruiser's dash cam caught the frightening accident on tape.

The lieutenant suffered the only injuries, including a broken pelvis and a facial fracture.
