The 60 Minutes/Vanity Fair Poll

As the country continues to get pelted by weather events and suffers from the normal post partum Super Bowl let down (over 100 million viewers), it is up to the 60 Minutes/Vanity Fair Poll to brighten up your mid-winter doldrums with some timely questions of interest. We start with the usual suspects, the economy, the presidency, and Supreme Court decisions. Then we ask about potential Internet worries, celebrities caught doing bad things, geography, and finally the state of television shows and what people miss most about childhood. No matter your age, this month's poll has something for everyone.

Fifty two percent say it's the economy, stupid! (Note to Mr. James Carville: you should have trademarked that phrase.) It has been said that all human action is born of self interest, and people's economic lives correlate directly to their standard of living. Still, 20 percent say that healthcare reform should be the top priority, and although they may be correct due to its potentially deleterious future effect on our economy, can Congress afford to keep chasing that dream while jobs are still as scarce as hen's teeth?

GWJACKIE, GOOD PAYING JOBS OF THE BUSH YEARS?!!!! Are you out of your mind? I was never broker in my entire life! I'm actually getting some nibbles now! And what a short attention span you have! Who made this mess!? Certainly Obama wasn't in the White House back in September of '09 when the bottom dropped out! And re: communist china; BUSH SENIOR IS THE ONE WHO OUTSOURCED ALL OF OUR JOBS OVER THERE! Why don't any Republicans choose to see that? Oh I know why. Because none of them were forced to take jobs overseas during the grand Bush years! But you know what I really miss from having lived and worked overseas? FREE, STATE OF THE ART, HEALTHCARE! I had a mammogram, sonogram, quad-biopsy, pre & post op complete w/antibiotics and after care (all within the span of 3 DAYS!) and I only had to pay $300 in Seoul! Here? It would've set me back at least 10K! You know where you can shove your Bush administration GWJACKIE? No, you're Republican. You probably DON'T know very much at all!

If you were President of the United States and could address only one major issue during your term, which would it be?

Taxes - it's killing us! That's why there is so much crime, robbery, etc. When is the government giving us a BREAK??? It kills me that we have spending funds to help other countries, but we don't have funds for here, the U.S. - that's like you feeding other people's children, but you don't feed your own???? There's something very wrong here! I believe helping others, but when your own is hungry, what would you tell them? While the rich is getting richer, the poor are getting nothing - I really don't see any improvement in anything, just alot of talk and talk is cheap! I don't have faith in the government, my faith lays with God!

Six months ago, I was in the governments Making Home affordable plan to lowermymonthly mortgage payments. Now, they have denied me not because I don't have enough money, but because the county assessor believes my house is worth only $3000 more than what I owe after living here for 12 years.

What is the making home affordable plan for? I thought for those who were either upside down in their mortgage (not quite me) or had a drastis salary decrease (I fit that category). I only need the terms of the loan extended from 15 years to 30 and instead they are going to foreclose.

Well it would be nice to have a nice robust economy but the good paying jobs are gone the bush years took care of that with the trade agreements that they made and no1 on the list is Communist China from 2003 there were 11 not counting China the trade deficit in 2008 reached 75% and we lost 2.3 million good jobs thanks Republicans.
