Inside Enemy Bunkers in Afghanistan

In Afghanistan, urban warfare is waged from a well-disguised bunker hidden behind family homes. Taliban snipers hidden here had a clear shot at advancing U.S. Marines.

"Pretty extensive. On D-day, when we came in, Kilo company had to deal with this," said Lt. Col. Brian Christmas. "There are two of them that we found so far."

And there are many more out there. But even when they spot them, the Marines are on strict orders to "go slow" and avoid using heavy weapons or air strikes.

The Taliban is using the local population as a human shield - and it's working. The Marines are taking greater risks to avoid civilian casualties.
They're moving in slowly, trying to flush out the snipers one at a time.

British troops have gone deep into Taliban-controlled areas to find them and U.S. military sources say that two elite teams of Marines are on a similar mission.

Still, local residents have been caught up in the crossfire. Major Jim Coffman is a civil affairs officer. He has to meet the victims' families.

"I lifted the sheet and there was a little girl that was dead," Maj. Coffman said. "She was probably about the same age as my youngest daughter."

Everyone - soldiers and civilians - is waiting for the fighting to end. But as long as there are snipers hiding among them, no one here is safe.

THE TRUTH IS: THE ISLAMIC EXTREMISTS ONLY WANT TO DESTROY WESTERN LIFE AND CULTURE

As these self-serving religious extremists acquire more deadly weapons, we in the West cannot rest - ever.

It should be told that part of Islamic extremists' grand plan to weaken Western societies, the Taliban and Qaeda continue to push sale and distribution of opium and its derivatives to the West for two major reasons:
1. They receive hundreds of millions to billions of dollars for their opium
2. They hope to destroy more lives in the West from drug use, a reason that they have orated in numerous private, secret, as well as publicly-aired interviews

Briefly, and as theses murderous religious Islamic extremists spread their ideology to their subject victims around the globe, we must stop them before they
bring more death and destruction to our shores.

Hunting these unconscionable murderers down where they nest and breed - BEFORE more of them reach our countries - is the way to go.

D-Day is the definition of the start of any operation, not just the Normandy Invasion.

Excellent job by all of our men and women over there. This a tough battle. Also, we need to remember the efforts of the Afghan, British and Pakistani Armies, without whose help this would be even more difficult. The Afghan people have suffered tragically during this war.

It's imperative we remember we are not at war with Afghanistan or it's people, just the hard-line, oppressive Taliban. So again, thanks to the people and armies of Afghanistan, Great Britain, Pakistan and U.S. troops.
